Some people are definitely made for the screens and the fact couldn’t be more true with the American actress, Kaitlyn Dever. Since she made her first appearance in 2009, she’s been a welcome addition to our television sets through the years. She is known for her roles as Gwen Thompson in An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong, Eve Baxter in Last Man Standing, and Jayden Cole in Short Term 12.

Kaitlyn Dever’s Biography, Age

The thespian was born on December 21, 1996, in Phoenix, Arizona. While children generally are often reputed for their carefree attitude and concern over nothing, Kaitlyn was an exception, as she made her choice of a lifelong career at the age of five. Although like other kids, she took part in a number of activities like gymnastics, ballet, and skating until she was around 9 when she decided that acting was the IT thing for her.

She became interested in the performing arts at that time and her parents reciprocated by sending her to an acting school. To further help her hone her skill and provide an environment for it, her folks moved the family to Dallas, Texas where she enrolled at the Dallas Young Actors Studio in a month-long acting program. Gradually, with every scene of her life, came the unveiling of the star she is. Subsequently, she booked a number of commercials before eventually moving to the center of the nation’s film and television industry, Los Angeles.

Since then, she has been doing her thing with no sign of slowing down. Her portrayals and professionalism seem to be echoing “I am meant for the screens”, after all, the camera and audience love her along with the variety, authenticity, and sparks she brings to the table.

Career

From doing commercials, Kaitlyn Dever evolved to one of Hollywood’s top emerging young actresses. She has appeared both in films and on the television but you probably cannot tell which is her best platform because she nails it on both sides.

She made her film debut in 2009 in the American Girl movie, An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong and debuted on TV the same year in an episode of Make It or Break It. Since then, she has appeared in a number of notable works in both worlds. Some of her TV credits include Justified, Modern Family, Private Practice, Party Down, The Mentalist, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and sitcom, Last Man Standing.

On the big screen, her credits include 2011 films – Cinema Verite, Bad TeacherJ. Edgar, Short Term 12, and The Spectacular Now. In 2014, she appeared in Men, Women, and Children and in dark comedy film Laggies alongside and  and three years later in 2017, All Summers End, We Don’t Belong Here, Outside In, and Detriot followed. The latter was based on the Algiers Motel incident during the 1967 Detroit riot. Her recent works include The Front Runner, Beautiful Boy, the upcoming drama-thriller film Them That Follow and Booksmart.

Dever has an undeniable talent and as such has garnered a number of recognition for her works. She was nominated for several awards including Young Artist Awards where she got three nominations in 2012 for her supporting roles in Bad Teacher and Last Man Standing, and for her recurring role in Justified.

Added to her film and TV career, Kaitlyn Dever portrayed Cassie Drake, daughter of the game’s lead, Nathan Drake in the 2016 award-winning video game Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. She is also interested in music and has launched a career therein with her sister, Mody.

Family Life: Kaitlyn Dever’s Parents

She is the first of the three daughters born to Tim and Kathy Dever alongside Jane and Mady. The prodigy may have probably inherited her artistic ability from her father who did the voice of Barney, the purple dinosaur for seven years. Amazingly, she was never featured in one of the episodes. That’s by the way.

Prior to her father voicing Barney which subsequently took the family to Dallas, he and his wife were ice skating coaches in Phoenix. Besides Barney, he also voiced another popular children’s character, Bob the Builder.

The Devers have been very supportive of their daughter since the beginning and has always trusted her to make the right decisions. Although she describes them as cool but strict sometimes, she pointed out that the strictness springs out of love.
