Kelsey Wingert was born in Sugar Land, Texas on June 20, 1992, to the family of Betsy and Greg Wingert. Though she is originally from Sugar Land, Wingert has lived in different cities including Florida, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Atlanta. Right from childhood, she began exhibiting interests in sports and journalism, thus she was already sure of her career path even before high school.

After graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School in 2010, she proceeded to study broadcast journalism with a minor in sports at Louisiana State University (LSU). Both in high school and as an undergraduate at LSU, Kelsey was an active student and began practising her career within the campus. She did not only lead the public relations team for her Delta Zeta Sorority but was also an LSU campus correspondent for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN)

Career

Kelsey Wingert had a clear idea of what she wanted in life. Her career path was an inborn passion she exhibited right from childhood. She began her career as a sports reporter for LSU-based Tiger TV for two years. She later returned to Texas to work as a sports intern at an NBC affiliate station in Houston. Wingert worked with several broadcasters in Louisiana, including during her time at ESPN.

She joined Fox Sports Southwest in 2015 as a field reporter for the Louisiana station. After graduating from LSU, she moved to Alexandria, Louisiana where she worked for the NBC/CBS affiliate KALB-TV. While in Alexandria, she was informed that an opportunity in Fox Sports just opened up, and she grabbed it with both hands. Kelsey moved to Atlanta when she bagged the job and has been covering the Atlanta Braves during MLB season since 2016.

In March 2018, she signed a new contract with Fox Sports South which will keep her on board as a Braves reporter for at least two years.

Is She Married Or Single? 

The sports journalist maintains a very discreet and quiet love life. Though Kelsey Wingert is not married, she is also not single. The reporter who is presumably focusing more on her career has however been romantically attached to an insurance expert, Jordan Philips. The pair have been relatively careful with details of their relationship and it is uncertain how and when they first crossed paths. Nonetheless, they are believed to have been together for some years.

Stadium Accident

In 2018, Kelsey Wingert suffered an eye injury while on duty covering a game between the Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. Things were moving as usual until a centre fielder hit a foul ball that unexpectedly landed on Wingert’s face. It was uncertain as to how badly it affected the reporter but was later disclosed via social media that the ball hit Wingert in the eye and she was taken to the hospital.

A CAT scan revealed that the reporter had fractured her eye socket and needed some time off work to recover from the injury.
