Notoriously known for her sex appeal and provocative dress sense on the Bravo TV series, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya Moore is an actress, model, pageant winner, and TV personality. Contrary to public opinion, Kenya is not merely a pretty face or sexy body she is also an accomplished producer, author, psychologist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

Kenya Moore started modeling at the early age of 14, while she was a student of Cass Technical High School, Detroit. Funny enough, the school actually has a good number of celebrity alumni like Diana Ross, Ed Gordon, and Lily Tomlin etc. Kenya Moore studied Psychology at the public research university called Wayne State University (WSU). During her time she also minored in Communications.

After graduating from Cass Technical High School in 1989, she went into modelling fully but only got her first major gig in 1992 at the age of 21. She was fortunate to appear as the cover girl of the January issue of Ebony Man’s (EM) magazine and has gone on to be featured on the covers of prestigious magazines like Essence, Ebony, Glamour, and Seventeen.

Biography (Age, Parents, and Family)

The all-rounded talented Kenya was born Kenya Summer Moore on the 24th of January 1971 to Ronald Grant and Patricia Moore (a special education teacher) in Detroit, Michigan. Her parents were teenagers at the time she was born and her mother, Patricia whimsically abandoned her to be raised by her paternal grandmother, the Late Doris Grant.

Kenya and her parents have had an estranged relationship due to the nature of her birth and although she is closer to her father, he was also absent from her life for a good number of years. Kenya claims as a kid she yearned for her mother’s love and on several occasions, she made efforts to extend an olive branch but for some abstruse reason, her mother wanted nothing to do with her.

With the obvious failings of Kenya’s parents, her grandmother took it upon herself to ensure that Kenya was catered for to the best of her ability, she encouraged Kenya to be the best she could be and not let the unfortunate circumstances that shrouded her birth determine the course of her life. For this reason, Kenya refers to late mama Doris as her inspiration and has been quoted saying that she owes much of her present success to the relentless efforts of her mama Doris.

Modeling Achievements

In 1993, Kenya Moore became the second African American woman to win the Miss USA Beauty Pageant after Carole Anne-Marie Gist had won it in 1990. In the same year of 1993, Kenya won the Miss Michigan USA (which Carole also won in her own time) and came 4th in the Miss Universe Pageant. However, it is important to note that Kenya won the Miss Michigan USA before going on to win Miss USA and like Kenya, Carole also attended Cass Technical High School, Detroit.

The Kenya Moore foundation awards less privileged girls from Cass Technical High School, Detroit college scholarships. Her foundation also provides her alma mater with learning materials like books and computers. She says it is a means of giving back to society and aiding young girls to achieve their goals and ambitions.

Is Kenya Married Or Single? Husband or Boyfriend?

Kenya is married to businessman and restaurant owner named Marc Daly. The couple got married covertly on the 10th of June 2017 in a romantic beach setting at St. Lucia surrounded by only family and close friends. This marriage happened after a secret relationship that lasted for about year. Some of her co-stars from The Real Housewives of Atlanta have expressed their surprise and disappointment at the clandestine nature of the relationship as well as not being invited to the eventual wedding. Nevertheless, it is understandable that Kenya wanted to keep her new relationship a secret from the public considering how inimically her last relationship was.

Prior to her marriage to Marc Daly, Kenya dated a much younger man named Matt Jordan. Her relationship with Matt was filled with drama and violent outbursts from Matt who accused Kenya of infidelity with some Nigerian billionaires. There was a lot of frenzy and publicity surrounding their relationship and things got so bad that Kenya had to file for a restraining order against Matt. In recent interviews, Kenya has described her relationship with Matt as toxic and has no regrets ending it with him in 2015.
