Biography

Kevin James Kisner was born on February 15, 1984, in Aiken, South Carolina where he was raised by his parents. There are details of his parents except his father’s name is Steve Kisner.

Professional Career

Kisner began his professional career right after he graduated from the University of Georgia. He played college golf as a member of the school’s 2005 NCAA Division I Championship team. From the year 2006 to 2009 Kisner played on the mini-tours, NGA Hooters Tour and Tarheel Tour in which he won three times. By 2011, he finished 11th on the money list and earned his PGA Tour card.

While in the PGA Tour between 2011 and 2012, Kisner failed to earn enough money to retain his card, being 181st and 167th respectively, on the money list- and missed earning a card in qualifying school by only one stroke.

He kept up performance but suffered loses during playoffs. Eventually, in November 2015, he finished as a runner-up at the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai. This marked his fourth runner-up finish of that year’s calendar.

On Nov. 22, 2015, Kisner finally earned his first PGA Tour victory by winning the RSM Classic, which came after near misses during the tournament. His victory came with six strokes over his opponent, and it quickly skyrocketed him up the Top 20 in the world rankings, as well as at the top FedEx Cup positioning into 2016.

He struck another win on May 28, 2017, snatching his second PGA Tour title at the Dean & DeLuca Invitational with a one-stroke victory ahead of three other golfers. In March 2018, Kisner finished runner-up in the WGC-Match Play in Austin, Texas but later lost to his opponent  in the final, 7 and 6.

Getting to the professional stage may seem like it doesn’t come with few pros and cons in the eye of an outsider, but Kisner and many other golf players know better. Kisner disclosed in an interview that he had the “shanks” from the being of his training. His swings deteriorated so bad because he was “embarrassed to play practice rounds with the other players.”

His coach, John Tillery who spoke to Golf Digest said Kisner was having a “narrow stance” which didn’t allow him to get enough pressure on his right foot. This usually led to a spine out since his left leg would straighten too soon, “causing him to swing to the right.”

All it required was some hard work and good coaching for the young golfer to overcome the struggle. Now he has earned his fair share in becoming one of the straightest drivers in the game.

Kevin Kisner’s Career Earnings, Net Worth

Kevin Kisner’s career earnings are worth $15,900,354. With his two PGA Tour wins in 2015, he earned $7.2 million. In 2010 and 2013, he won two tournaments and earned $527,716 on the Web.com Tour.

Following his second PGA Tour win in June 2017, at Dean & DeLuca Invitational, Kisner earned $1.2 million and like many golfers, he extended his generosity towards his caddie, Duane Bock. Kisner surprised the guy who totes his bag on the golf course, with a brand new Ford F-150 King Ranch pickup truck.

Family, Wife

Kisner and his wife Brittany Anne DeJarnett were married on March 17, 2012, in a church in Athens, Georgia by Brittany’s uncle who is a Reverend. Their daughter Kathleen was born in early June 2014 and the young family still lives in Kisner’s hometown, Aiken.

The Kisners met in 2006 at a Kinchafoonee Cowboys concert at the Georgia Theatre in Athens. At the time, Kisner was a young graduating student of the University of Georgia.

Brittany was raised in Madison, Georgia, and her father, Stan DeJarnett, was the school superintendent. She became a certified Speech and Language Pathologist and holds a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the Medical University of South Carolina.

They dated for six years before getting married and despite all high and lows in her husband’s career especial when at first, he didn’t qualify for the PGA Tour, Brittany said she “wouldn’t trade those years [with him] for anything.”

With her qualification, the golfer’s wife spends part of her days working with children with special needs at a hospital in Augusta. Besides that, she is on the board of directors at the PGA Tour Wives Association and has been there for four years.
