Biography

The Hollywood star that would be Kim Victoria Cattrall was born on the 21st day of August 1956 in Mossley Hill, a small town in Liverpool, England to British parents Dennis Cattrall and Gladys Shane (née Baugh). Cattrall spent most of her early years in Canada where her parents relocated to when she was just 3 months old.

From then until the age of 11, Kim Cattrall was raised in Courtenay, Vancouver Island in British Columbia. She returned to Britain for the first time at the age of 11 to spend time with her ailing grandma. Upon returning to Canada at the age of 12, Cattrall spent just four more years in the country before her dreams to become an actress saw her move to New York.

Cattrall’s love for acting began when she was in secondary school in Canada. She attended New York’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts after which film director Otto Preminger signed her to a film deal to last 5 years.

Kim Cattrall made her professional acting debut in the 1975 American action thriller film, Rosebud. For the rest of the 70s, she appeared in several television films. However, it was roles in films in the 80s that first gained her prominence. Cattrall solidified her place in the industry with the role of Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, an HBO-produced show that ran from 1998 to 2004.

Post-Sex and the City, Cattrall’s next major small screen acting role came in Sensitive Skin for which she was also the executive producer. The actress has lent her voice to a number of animated TV character most notably Dee in Producing Parker.

Kim Cattrall is also an occasional stage actress and has appeared on Broadway productions. In recent years, she can be seen playing the lead role on the web television series Tell Me a Story which premiered in October 2018.

Cattrall’s first marriage was to Larry Davis. The couple tied the knot in 1977 and just a couple of years later in 1979, they had their union annulled. Three years was what it took before Kim decided to give marriage another shot. In 1982 she married a German man named Andre J. Lyson. Cattrall split from her second husband 6 years later in 1989.

Since her split from her third husband, Kim Cattrall has not been married to anyone but has been in romantic relationships. As of 2019, she was in a relationship with public speaking coach Russell Thomas.
