Kirsten Caroline Dunst was born on April 30, 1982, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, to Klaus Hermann Dunst, a German and New Jersey-born Inez Rupprecht, who has German and Swedish ancestry. She, therefore, holds a German citizenship becoming naturalized in 2011. Her father was a medical service executive while her mother owned an art gallery and was a flight attendant. She has a younger sibling, Christian.

She lived with her family in Brick Township, New Jersey where she attended Ranney School until her folks’ separation in 1993 when she moved to Los Angeles with her mother and brother. While at the nation’s center of film and television industry, Dunst attended Laurel Hall School in North Hollywood and subsequently Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California where she graduated from in 2000.

She started appearing on screen at the age of 3 as a child model that by the time she got to her teenage years, she found her rising fame difficult to deal with and at a time blamed her mother for pushing her into acting before she knew what she wanted.
