Usually, being at the forefront of a movement places you in a unique position to reap the benefits of the movement. In Hollywood, film or television studios who are at the forefront of a trending genre get to rake all the money at the box office and actors and actresses who make films in the genre gain a meteoric rise in popularity. That has however not always been the case and it is no more pronounced in a career than that of Kristin Kreuk, who used to be a leading actor in superhero shows but is only heard of these days in news about secret cults and women enslavement.

Kristin Kreuk – Bio
In a way, acting derailed Kristin Kreuk’s plans. Kreuk, who is the eldest daughter of two landscape architects, Peter Kreuk and Deanna Che originally planned on studying forensic science or psychology before she fell into acting. She was born on the 30th of December 1982. Although she identifies with Canada, Vancouver, British Columbia where she was born, Kreuk’s ancestry and ethnicity is a mix of Dutch, Chinese, and Jamaican origins. She is the first of the Kreuk girls, with the second being Justine Kreuk.
As a child, Kristin was very much involved in physical activities. She was a karate student and a gymnastics athlete. She competed in gymnastics up until the national level before she had to retire a result of scoliosis. With athletics no longer a viable option for Kreuk, she planned on a career in forensic science or psychology until she got a surprise call from the casting director of a CBC Television show, Edgemont. After a brief conversation, she landed her first role in a television project and became a professional actress.
While she continued to film Edgemont, which was set in her school area in Vancouver, Kristin continued the process of becoming a full-fledged actress. After she took care of one of the most important parts of it, securing an agent, she landed a role in another television production, a TV film titled Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. After playing Snow White, Kreuk played Tenar in sci-fi channel’s Earthsea.
All of Kristin Kreuk’s early roles were convenient for her budding new career and her education until her agent sent her audition tape to the writers of Smallville. Even though the show would later still film in Vancouver, Kreuk had to head over to Burbank, California for a final meeting with the screenwriters.
She was still an active part of Edgemont while she filmed other projects, but when push came to shove, she ended her story on Edgemont and focused on Smallville. Kristin was on Edgemont for five seasons and was part of the main characters in Smallville for seven seasons. She played the first love interest of Clark Kent (who would later become Superman) on the show. The actress left the show for good in the 8th season.
After she left Smallville in 2008, Kristin Kreuk joined Chuck, an NBC show as a recurring character for a couple of episodes. On Chuck, she played a computer programmer who worked at the Buy More Computer Troubleshooting station. She was also a brief love interest of the lead character, Chuck ().
Since her Chuck days, she has starred in other television projects like Ben Hur, Beauty & the Beast. She currently stars in a lead role on a CW show, Burden of Truth. The show started airing in January 2018 and has been renewed for a second season on the network. While her career is television heavy, she hasn’t had a similar success in film. She has credits to her name in films like EuroTrip, Partition, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Vampire, Space Milkshake, and Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy.
Outside of acting, Kreuk partnered with Rosena Bhura in bringing to life a production company called Parvati Creative Inc., she has also been the spokesmodel of Neutrogena, a cosmetic brand.

She is not one to put her personal life in public view, however, Kristin Kreuk is known to be in a long-term relationship with Mark Hildreth, the Canadian actor. The two have been together since 2004 when they met and started dating, however, they did take a long break of over 5 years but later got back together in 2010. There are currently no rumors of an engagement or marriage but fans suspect that it would come soon especially since the two are currently in a live-in situation.
Where is Kristin Kreuk Now?
Kristin Kreuk has been the subject of a recent alarming news concerning a cult, NXIVM, which was founded and run by a certain Keith Raniere and she, along with her Smallville co-star, Allison Mack was an integral part of. She has, however, come out to debunk the extent of her involvement in the activities of the said cult stating that she thought of it to be more like a self-help group which was why she joined in the first place. She also made it clear that until she left the group in 2012, she never witnessed any illegal activity. The actress currently enjoys a peaceful life in Toronto when she’s not filming episodes for her show, Burden of Truth.
