Ever since Krystal Jung worked her way to show business in September 2009, her career has skyrocketed. The beautiful lady became an instant teen icon with her performance with the South Korean girl group f(x) and has since done many projects for/with notable artists in the industry. Krystal is a South Korean singer who also has a background in TV and film, having featured in a number of films, including Listen To My Song, wherein she starred alongside actor Seo Jun-young in 2015. Krystal Jung was born Chrystal Soo Jung on the 24th day of October 1994, in San Francisco, California, United States, where her parents settled from South Korea in the 1980s. She is an American belonging to South Korean ancestry. Krystal, as she is popularly known, was raised together with her sister called Jessica Jung. She attended Korea Kent Foreign School and later enrolled at Hanlim Performing Arts High School, from where she graduated on February 7, 2013, and later bagged an achievement award. At the time of writing this report, the singer is currently studying theatre at Sungkyunkwan University.
The American-born South Korean actress was discovered by a talent agency called S.M. Entertainment during a family trip to South Korea in the year 2000. Krystal was just five years at the time. In addition, the agency also offered to train the Jung sisters to become professional singers and dancers but the offer was turned down by their parents, who maintained that Krystal was too young to take up the lessons. However, they only allowed Jessica to become part of the agency at first.
Prior to debuting in 2009, Krystal Jung did several TV commercials beginning from the year 2002. One of the notable commercial gigs she appeared in include Lotte Commerical (which she did in 2002 with actress Han Ga-in). It was in 2006 that her parents eventually gave her their blessings to join S.M. Entertainment, after which the agency enrolled her in dance classes. She had the training for three years before she finally debuted with f(x) in 2009.
The South Korean star earned her first on-screen appearance in 2010 when she played a minor role in the sitcom More Charming by the Day, for which she bagged the 2010 “Newcomer Comedy Award” in the MBC Entertainment Awards. Since then, she has starred in a slew of other notable movies and TV series such as Player (2018), My Lovely Girl (2014), The Heirs (2013), Prison Playbook (2017) and many others. As a singer, some of the projects she has completed include, “Melody” (2010), “I Don’t Wanna Love You” (2017), “When I Was… When U Were…” (2014), and “Breath” (2014).
Sister (Jessica Jung)
After her discovery by S.M. Entertainment, Jessica, who’s believed to be Krystal Jung’s only sister went on to debut as a member of the girl group Girls’ Generation. Since then, she has featured in many events with her sister, including their reality TV show called Jessica & Krystal.
Jessica is a singer and actress like her sister. She gained recognition for roles in the group, Girls’ Generation, which she left due to conflicts between her business schedule and that of the group. Shortly after she was dismissed from S.M. Entertainment, precisely in 2016, she signed a contract with Coridel Entertainment. Currently, she is working with United Talent Agency, which signed her in May 2018.
Also known as Jung Soo-Yeon, Krystal Jung’s sister was born on April 18, 1989, in San Francisco, California, United States. She has, so far, released three Extension Plays (EPs) titled “With Love, J” (2016), “Wonderland” (2016), “My Decade” (2017), and also own a fashion company called Blanc Group.
