An equally classic and talented member of the “clique” is the beautiful actress Lesley-Ann Brandt, a South African export who has also proven that it takes more than a thick skin to be successful.

After she moved with her family to Auckland, New Zealand in 1999, Brandt first came to international awareness with her role as Naevia in the series Spartacus: Blood and Sand but is more recently known as Maze (Mazikeen) on the television series Lucifer (2016-2018).

Lesley-Ann Brandt’s Biography

Lesley-Ann Brandt was born in the year 1981 and commemorates her birthday every 2nd of December. She is a native of Cape Town in South Africa but has a mix of ancestry including East Indian, Dutch, German, And Spanish. Brandt was raised alongside her younger brother.

While growing up in the African country, Brandt was a very active, competitive and talented child who loved sports and does not hold back in playing. She played competitive field hockey and also enjoys yoga and baseball. Besides English, Lesley-Ann also speaks the Afrikaans language fluently.

While in her late teens, her family immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand. In the new soil, Lesley-Ann Brandt easily adapted to her new environment and soon got a job. She worked in retail sales prior to landing a job as an information technology recruitment consultant. Besides, she also worked for Red Bull as a promo girl.

The South African export soon landed some modelling gigs and was cast in a number of New Zealand television advertisements. Afterwards, she was scouted by local casting directors who introduced her to the world of acting. She made her acting debut on a soap opera named Shortland Street in 2007. She later studied acting and was trained in the Meisner technique in 2008.

Then, she took up roles in a number of other TV series such as the sci-fi series This Is Not My Life and her first main role came in Diplomatic Immunity alongside Craig Parker who later became her close friend. However, it was her portrayal of Naevia, a slave girl in the Starz hits, Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena that marked her breakthrough in the acting scene. Her performance endeared her to audiences as well as brought her to the international spotlight.

She also appeared in the New Zealand coming-of-age feature film The Hopes & Dreams of Gazza Snell, a film about the victim of a kart racing accident, and had a guest role in Legend of the Seeker in 2010. In 2011, Leslie-Ann Brandt had a number of guest roles in works such as CSI: NY alongside  who replaced her as Naevia in the Spartacus series and in Memphis Beat. That same year, she was featured in the film InSight as nurse Valerie Khoury and had a lead role in Zombie Apocalypse, Syfy’s highest-rated original feature for 2011 as Cassie. The film also starred and .

Brandt’s other credits include A Beautiful Soul (2012), Drift (2013) opposite , the third season of Single Ladies (2014) as Naomi Cox, Fox’s Gotham (2014) as Larissa Diaz/Copperhead and Lamia in The Librarians also in 2014. She starred opposite , , and Jon Heder in the dark comedy film Killing Winston Jones.

Lesley-Ann Brandt was cast as Mazikeen “Maze” in the Fox TV series Lucifer in 2015. The series premiered on January 25, 2016. Her character is a fiercely strong yet vulnerable, pansexual demon who follows the titular character, Lucifer, played by out of hell to work as his adjutant.

Lesley-Ann Brandt is off the market. She was taken by her boyfriend of three years, Chris Payne Gilbert as wife in 2015.

Gilbert is an American actor who is known for his role on the TBS sitcom 10 times or Less (2006-2009) as Todd. He has also starred in other incredible works both on the big and small screens including Dexter, Friends, CSI: Miami, Sex and the City, Story of a Bad Boy, Saving Manhattan, The Irish Vampire Goes West, Life Blood, The Protector, Criminal Minds and Fairly Legal.

The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Kingston Payne Brandt-Gilbert on July 18, 2017. They live in Los Angeles.
