Alexandra Lecciones Doig otherwise simply known as Lexa Doig is a Canadian actress born who was born on the 8th of June in 1973. She was known for her inspiring title role in the 2000 -2005 Canadian American science fiction-adventure television series Andromeda.

She was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada as the youngest child of David W. Lecciones and Gloria B. Doig. Her mother was not an indigene of Canada but was a registered nurse who originated from a city in the Philippines called Dumaguete, while her father, an engineer, is an indigene of Canada but is of Scottish and Irish ancestry.

While growing up, Lexa Doig studied gymnastics as a child and later on in her teenage age decided to study American Sign Language. She became interested in becoming an actress at a very early age of 9 after she watched a theatre production of Porgy and Bess.

Alex did not immediately start up as an actress but she first began as a model and after the completion of her necessary secondary education at the Don Mills Collegiate Institute, she was enrolled with the aid of her father into the vocational modeling program. While in the program at age of 16, it was very evident that the young girl was a star in the making and it did not take time before she was offered representation by a talent agent and was booked for various modeling projects, this began the meteoritic rise of the Canadian actress.

Although the decision did not sit well with her parents at first, Alex dropped out of high school in a bid to pursue her acting career. After her modeling stints which led to instant media exposure for the young Canadian, she was chosen to co-host a famous Canadian game show which took place from 1991 to 2006 called Video & Arcade Top 10. Although her acting career did not hit off immediately, she had to audition for both television and film roles while also working on the theatre productions of Romeo and Juliet and Arsenic and Old Lace.

Lexa Doig made her film debut relatively early in 1993 where she has been given a role as “Second Girl” in the movie The Hidden Room. But her first major role came two years later in 1995 in the movie titled Jungleground. Her big break came five years later in 2000 where she made a starring role in the movie No Alibi. Her amazing performances in the movie No Alibi led to her being handed a role in Gene Roddenberry’s sci-fi TV series Andromeda from 2000 to 2005 which became her biggest reference point.

Lexa Doig’s career from the point she was given the role in Andromeda just seemed to go from strength to strength as she was being offered more roles, most notably the role she played in 2002 as the female lead of “Dr. Rowan LaFontaine” in the horror film Jason X, which was the tenth installment of the Friday 13th film series.

In more recent times, Lexa played a role of Liber8 terrorist Sonya Valentine in her native countries science fiction TV series called the Continuum in 2012. She was a known fan of the DC TV series Arrow and considered it a big honor when she appeared in a recurring role in the fifth season as Talia al Ghul.

Lexa Doig has majorly been associated with one man and considers that her most meaningful relationship prior to her marrying him. Lexa and Michael Shanks met on the set of the movie Andromeda where the former was a regular star of the show and the later a guest star in the 2001 episode of the show Star-Crossed.

The pair immediately hit it off and got married in on the 2nd of August 2003. Their marriage did not stop them from working together as the couple starred together on the same show in the 2003 episode Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath amongst other shows. They have two kids together; their daughter Mia Tabitha and their son Samuel David. Shanks also has a child from a past relationship – Tatiana Shanks.
