She attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre in New York City where she got to learn from the late American actor and acting teacher, Sanford Meisner, who created the Meisner technique approach to acting.

In 1992, Snyder landed her first major acting roles in episodes of The Trials of Rosie O’Neill and Down the Shore. She then went on to appear in an episode of Murder, She Wrote before landing the main role in the crime drama series Sirens (1993-1995).

Following her appearance on Sirens, Liza Snyder starred in the television films Innocent Victims (1996) and Race Against Time: The Search for Sarah (1996) before appearing in episodes of Chicago Hope (1996) and Pacific Blue (1997). By 1998, she was able to land another main role, this time in the sitcom Jesse (1998-2000). When her time on the show ended, she was able to make her big screen debut in Pay It Forward (2000) which also starred . That same year, Snyder joined the cast of Yes, Dear which she appeared on until 2006.

In recent times, the actress can be seen playing the main role of Andi Burns alongside ‘s character of Adam Burns in the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan (2016-present). She was a late replacement for actress who CBS opted to replace in order to increase the chemistry between the two leading characters.
