One of the hit songs of the 60’s, Paper Roses was gifted to music lovers by Marie Osmond. She is an accomplished American singer, doll designer, actress, television personality, and entrepreneur.

Marie Osmond’s Bio (Age)

Marie Osmond was born in Ogden, Utah on the 13th day of October 1959 as the youngest child and only daughter of Olive May (mother) and George Virl Osmond’s nine children. She and her eight brothers (Virl, Tom, Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny and Jimmy Osmond) were raised as Christians in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

From an early age, the Osmond’s took to music as they spent hours memorizing scripts, learning and practicing new dance steps, playing musical instruments, singing and learning to sing in foreign languages for any foreign tour they would embark on. By this time, some of the older brothers had formed a music group called the “Osmond Brothers” and it wasn’t long before the youngest Osmond, Marie joined her brothers singing on stage.

Music Career

She gained instant fame following the release of Paper Roses, her first single as a solo artist. The cover song became an undisputed hit in the country, reached the Top 5 on the Billboard magazine pop chart and achieved crossover success. Every song of hers and single that followed her first release didn’t fail to impress like her first work.

This Is The Way That I Feel, her fourth studio album took a different approach to her previous works that were mainly covers of popular songs. She ventured more into pop music but didn’t get much commercial success with this. She, however, made a comeback to country music by signing a deal with Capital and Curb records and it saw her songs charting high again.

Acting Career

She debuted on television in 1975 when she and her brother Donny Osmond hosted the Donny & Marie show which ran on ABC till 1978 before it got renamed as The Osmond Family Hour. She has her own variety show on television called Marie in addition to a host of other shows she appeared on. It was in the film Hugo the Hippo that she made her film debut.

Family – Husband, Children

Many celebrities divorce and marry again, but not many of them would divorce and still remarry the same person they had previously fallen out of love with. Marrie Osmond defied all odds as she has been married three times to two men.

In 1979 she had started dating Jeff Clayton and in fact, got engaged to him earlier in 1979. By July 1979, she understood that marriage was too big an institution to commit to in life without one being totally sure she was ready for it. Clayton seemed to have shared the same worry with her and they called off their relationship and their soon-to-be wedding.

Marie Osmond later met Stephen Lyle Craig, Brigham Young University basketball player, fell in love with him and was convinced about it as she got married to him on June 26, 1982. Their marriage saw to the birth of their only child named Stephen James Craig on the 20th day of April 1983. As fate would have it, they got divorced in October 1985 and the reason for this is yet unknown.

Brian Blosil became the second man she was married to. The two got married on 28th October 1986 at the Jordan River Temple in Utah. Marie Osmond and Brian Biosil had two children together. The first was named Rachael Lauren born on August 19, 1989, while the second named Mathew Richard was born on the 6th day of June 1998. In addition to these two, they adopted five other children who made the number of their kids seven. The names of these adopted children were given as Jessica Marie; born on December 17, 1987, Michael Bryan; born on May 4, 1991, but he later died on February 26, 2010. Brandon Warren became their third adopted child and he was born in November 1996. His adoption was followed by that of Brianna Patricia and Abigail Oliver May who were born on November 19, 1997, and September 5, 2002, respectively.

Sadly, the love between Marie and Brian ended with their divorce on 30th March 2007.

It took only four years later for Marie Osmond to do what was rarely done. She remarried her first husband Stephen Craig on May 4, 2011, in a small ceremony in the Las Vegas Nevada Temple. She wore the same wedding dress she had won in their first marriage. The two are still known to be together up till now and it is possible they will continue to be with each other.

Married Osmond is still alive but a part of her died in a very painful and sad way. One of her adopted sons – Michael with her second husband Blosil who at the time had just started doing well in his music career committed suicide by jumping off his apartment building. Findings had it that he left a note before killing himself and the note said he felt estranged from his adoptee father Bryan Blosil who hadn’t spoken to him for a long time. Perhaps there is more to this but neither Blosil nor his former wife commented on the underlying possibilities of why their son decided to kill himself.

The actress was born a pretty young girl and she grew into a pretty woman too. This beauty is easily noticed with her height of 5 feet 5 inches. With that height, her weight was obtained as 54kg or 120lbs. Her other measurements are 39-27-37 inches (99-69-94 cm).
