Martavis Bryant is an NFL player who is currently playing for the Oakland Raiders as a wide receiver. He is also popular for playing college football at the Clemson University where he won the ACC Championship in 2011. Bryant also won the Orange Bowl in 2014 which was the same year he was drafted to the professional league.

Bryant was born on December 20, 1991, in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina where he was raised by his mother, Roberta Bryant who worked at a textile manufacturing company. His interest in football started during his childhood days and he was an active member of the football team at his high schools – the first being Calhoun Falls High School in South Carolina and then, T. L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina.

Martavis Bryant had a record of 70 receptions, 11 touchdowns in 722 yards as a senior while as a junior he covered 776 yards in which he recorded 6 touchdowns and 44 catches. He is said to have spent a year at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia which helped him to pass the NCAA standards and according to his mum, the school helped groom him better.

His Career History and Analysis

Martavis Bryant was admitted to Clemson University in 2011 where he continued to build on his high school football career. During his freshman season, he had to play against present NFL players like , , and Jaron Brown. He made his first 54 yards reception against Troy on September 3, 2011, and a 42-yard touchdown reception the following week against the Wafford. On October 1, 2011, he made his first start in a game against Virginia Tech and played in his first bowl game, against West Virginia in the Orange Bowl in which he was able to catch 2 passes for 20 yards.

He ended his freshman season with 9 receptions in 220 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. During his sophomore season, he was able to play in many more games than the previous year and recorded 10 receptions for 305 receiving yards and 4 touchdown catches. Martavis Byant also led the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) with a recorded reception of 30.5 per yard. His junior year is said to have been the best year in his college career as he improved in his games and recorded more victories. Martavis finished the 2013 season with 42 receptions for 828 receiving yards and 7 touchdown receptions which accumulated his receptions to 61, and 13 touchdowns for 1,354 receiving yard.

Moving to his professional career, Martavis Bryant was marked to be drafted between the second and fourth round by many NFL analysts and it proved true when he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the NFL draft in 2014. Thereafter, he signed a 4-year contract with the team on June 9, 2014. During his rookie season which was the 2014 season, he made a total of 26 catches, 549 receiving yards, and 8 touchdown receptions while playing just 10 games and starting in only 3. He is also known to have made a 21.1 yards per reception which ranked first on the NFL wide receivers’ record in 2014.

This player did not participate in any match held in 2016 as he was suspended for the entire year by the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy of the NFL. He returned in 2017 on a conditional reinstatement and participated in a couple of matches finishing the year with 50 receptions, 603 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns.

Martavis Bryant was traded on April 26, 2018, by the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Oakland Raiders.
