Missy Gold – Biography

The blonde-haired actress was born on the 14th of July 1970. Although her birth name was Melissa Fisher, it was as Missy Gold that she has come to be known. Gold was born to Bonnie and Joe Fisher who are Great Falls, Montana natives.

Missy’s inclination towards performing arts as a child led to pursue a career in acting. She made her acting debut in the year 1976, at a young age of six. Her first screen role was in a mini-series Captains and the Kings where she played as Mary Armagh. In the year that followed, she starred as Judy Cardler in Rafferty and as Grace in The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries.

In 1978, she appeared in four TV shows including Little Mo, Sword of Justice, The Kid from Not-So-Big, and Ishi: The Last of His Tribe. The proceeding year, she was seen in Eight Is Enough, Project U.F.O, and How the West Was Won. In the early ‘80s, Missy Gold appeared in Fantasy Island as Stephanie Hendricks; in Trapper John, M.D. as Rachel McCall, and she voiced Blink in The Blinkins: The Bear and the Blizzard.

She got her breakthrough in 1979 when she joined the cast of the American sitcom, Benson. In the series, she portrayed the role of Katie Gatling, the governor’s daughter alongside James Noble and Robert Guillaume. For her wonderful performance in the series, Missy was honored with an award for Best Young Actress in a Comedy Series in 1984. Shortly after the show ended in 1986, Missy decided to quit acting in order to further her studies.

Post Acting Career

After her retirement, the actress proceeded to Georgetown University, where she was pre-med. Soon after her graduation, she went on to acquire her Ph.D. from California School of Professional Psychology.

The actress turned psychologist currently plies her trade in Saint Helena, California and is now known as Dr. Melissa Gold Weidmann. She also received other training such as predoctoral training at the Los Angeles Police Department as well as Behavioral Science Service and postdoctoral training at the University of California’s Rape Treatment Center.

Family

Missy Gold came from a middle-class American family. She is the daughter of Bonnie Fisher, an advertising executive and her husband, Joe Fisher. The actress was raised along with her sister, Tracey Gold who is equally an actress. Tracey is best remembered for her role as Carol Seaver in the 1980s sitcom, Growing Pains.

When they were very young, Missy’s parents got divorced. As a result of this, their mom, Bonnie later got married to a man named Harry Goldstein who would later adopt Missy and Tracey. Although they changed their last name from Fisher to Goldstein, Missy and her siblings later shortened it to Gold for professional purposes.

Through their mother’s second marriage to Harry, Missy also has three other younger half-siblings. They include Cassandra, Brandy, and Jessica Gold. Two out her three half-siblings – Brandy and Jessie have established themselves as proficient actresses in Hollywood.

Brandy is famous for her role in the NBC medical drama series St. Elsewhere while Jessie is known for her appearance in films such as The Longest Week and Eating Out series, among others. Cassandra is the only member of their family who pursued a different career path. However, there are no much details regarding Cassie and what she does for a living.
