Mary Elizabeth Ellis is primarily a well-known American actress. She recently started gaining more popularity in the industry by venturing into scriptwriting and film production. Until now, she has written two films and prides herself as the executive producer of Mother, May I Dance with Mary Jane’s Fist?: A Lifetime Original Movie for Adult Swim, all in 2018.

Her fame grew further when many of her fans came to know her as the ‘waitress’ Charlie was obsessed with after she premiered in the movie It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia back in 2004.

She was born on May 11, 1979, in the city of Laurel, Mississippi in the United States of America to Judy and Steve Ellis. Her nicknames include May Liz and M.E. Ellis is an alumnus of The Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas, graduating in 2002.

Career

Her first main role actually came by in 2015 when she starred as Debbie Sanderson alongside and in the TV series The Grinder.

Since then, she has gone ahead to feature in up to 37 films ranging from The Truth About Lies to The Last Time You Had Fun, The Curse and the Smoking Jacket, Masterminds, A Quiet Little Marriage and many others. Some of the TV series she has featured in include Perfect Couples, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Without a Trace, The Grinder, Up All Night and many others.

So far, Mary Elizabeth Ellis has been nominated for awards on two separate occasions. First was during the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival in 2016, where she was nominated for the best actress in the short film category for her role in the film Step 9 released in 2015. The following year, she was also nominated for the best performance in a comedy category as a result of her role in The Truth About Lies which was released in 2017 also. Unfortunately, she has not been able to win any of these awards.

The couple has a son (Russell Wallace Day) together, who they welcomed on Thursday, December 15, 2011, around 7:59 pm. As at the time of his birth, the baby weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces with a height of 21.5 inches. His first name Russell is Ellis’ choice in honour of a beloved departed friend of hers; his second name, Wallace is taken from Day’s family tree.
