Born as Mika Sue Boorem, Mika Boorem is one of America’s most talented and beautiful young actresses in the entertainment industry. Although she is also a director and producer, Mika is best known for her acting career and particularly for her role in the 2001 American-Australian mystery drama thriller film, Hearts in Atlantis and the 2004 American teen film, Sleepover.

Mika Boorem’s Biography

Mika was born in Tucson, Arizona, on August 18, 1987. The young actress was raised by her parents, Benjamin Melvin Boorem and Holly Sue (née Thomas) at a ranch near Sahuaro National Park East just outside of Tucson, Arizona. Born with the birth sign of Leo, Mika started acting in local theatre in Arizona at the age of seven. She then followed her parents to Los Angeles where she attended a private bilingual international school called Lycée Français de Los Angeles. There, she received a Presidential Award for her Academic Excellence.

While in her new location, Mika made several respectable filmographies as she availed herself for great opportunities to work with highly respected actors and actresses such as Brian Grazer, , ,  Penny Marshall, Lawrence Bender, Lee Tamahori, and Roland Emmerich to name a few.

In 1995, she played voice role of Kinuyo in the Japanese Animated drama film, Whisper of the Heart and two years later, she made her first feature film in The Education of Little Tree where she acted as a little white girl who is passionately in love with an American Indian boy, much to the dismay of her loving but small-minded parents. 1. Mika’s Name is Gotten from Finnish and Russian Languages

Although her name may sound boyish, Mika is also used for a girl child and it is predominantly used in the Russian language. The name is also of Hebrew origin as a variant of Micah or Michael as used in Czech, English, French, German, and Yiddish. In the Japanese language, the name means beautiful flower. Mika’s mother is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent while her father is of Swedish descent.

2. She Earned Two Nominations as a Child Actor

Between 1997 and 1998, Mika Boorem was nominated for two major awards- a Young Artist Award nomination and a YoungStar Award. These two were as a result of her creative roles in the two films The Education of Little Tree and Jack Frost released in 1997 and 1998, respectively. These two films further made her famous as a young actress and made her open to more acting roles in the movies.
