Nicky Whelan’s Bio

Nicky Whelan was born on the 10th of May 1981 in Cranbourne, Victoria, Australia. She has not revealed the identity of her parents, whether or not she has siblings, what her childhood experience was like and which schools she attended. Nevertheless, we know she is the granddaughter of the legendary Marcus Whelan (27 June 1914 – 31 August 1973) an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) in the 30s and 40s.

Before she ventured into acting, Nicky first began her career in showbiz as a model, she posed for several magazines in Australia like FMH, Ralph and Inside Sport at various times as well as appeared on the Pumped Up Down calendar for two years; the first model to do so. In addition, she worked as a host of events like Beyond the Boundary on Network Ten, Coxy’s Big Break and Melbourne Woman which were both on Seven Network/Channel Seven or simply Seven as it is locally known. Nicky equally held the mantle in Moonee Valley for eight years as the host of a night racing event. Till today, she is still recognized as the face of Shepparton; a rural Victorian city.

Nicky Whelan began her career as an actress when she debuted in the 2003 television series titled Pizza, playing the role of a cheerleader in a single episode of the series where she appeared. After this, she portrayed the character of Heidi “Pepper” Steiger on Neighbours (2006-2007). Following the success of the series and her impressive portrayal of her character, Nicky disclosed that she started getting offers of discussions for feature films. Her filmography since then has gone on to include Halloween II (2009) as Wendy Snow, Scrubs (2009–2010) as the character Maya in 9 episodes of the series, Nadia in The Wedding Ringer (2015), A Christmas Arrangement (2018) as Poppy Benson and many others.

Most recently, Nicky Whelan is single. Before her marriage and eventual divorce from her football star husband, the actress was in a relationship with American actor David Spade (April 2007 – January 2008) and at another time, with British actor Gray Stretch (in much of 2008). Reports also have it that her dating list accommodated the American musician who she dated for one year (2010 – 2011), and  (2013-2014) a co-model, spokesperson and writer who she starred in Left Behind with.

However, it was Kerry Rhode the American actor and football that she loved to the extent of walking down the aisle with. The two are reported to have known each other a long time before they began dating following which, Rhodes engaged Nicky in 2016. Their romantic affair led up to a nuptial which held on April 15, 2017, at Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.

Little did the duo know or imagine that the love that brought them together wasn’t going to last till death do them part. Six months (October 2017) after their forever vows, the pair were to have split from each other. One year after the divorce, Nicky Whelan took to her Instagram account and revealed to her followers that she thought she had lost everything after the divorce, but she gained more love for herself. In the reports, it was hinted that she has loved again but the identity of her new lover remains obscure.
