Former Toronto Raptors cheerleader turned comedian, singer, and actress, Nicole Arbour, is an all-around Canadian entertainer who has tried her hand in almost everything to be a celebrity and enjoy success.
She eventually got worldwide fame after creating the infamous YouTube video titled Dear Fat People. On the video, she condemned overweight people, adding that they deserved to be shamed. She has also said that depressed people can cure themselves of depression by believing they are not.
Biography
Nicole Arbour was born in Hamilton, Canada on June 26, 1985. There is little known about her parents and early childhood. It has, however, been said that she enjoyed dancing as a kid.
Arbour attended Humber College where she began actively participating in theatre as well as dancing. Thanks to her talent, She rose to become Captain of the Canadian All-Star Dance even as she was still in college. She went on to become a cheerleader for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association.
In her new job, Arbour gained a lot of exposure and got to work with high profile artists such as . Her dancing skills ensured she was able to excel in choreography and she was charged with choreographing the KTU 103.5 Miracle on 34th Street Event in 2001.
Having conquered the dancing scene, Arbour tried her hand in acting. She loved the limelight so much and being someone who has a great sense of humour, she delved into comedy as well. As an actress, she appeared in a number of movies including Howie Do It, and Silent But Deadly. She began her music career in 2010 but, however, released her first single three years later in April 2013. The song was titled Bang-Bang. A year later she released another song which came with a video, titled Fun Revolution. The song happened to be the first music video to debut on Periscope.
As a comedian, Arbour was regarded as a promising up and coming act. Her brand of comedy was filled with dark humour which angered most people but pleased others who had a stomach for it. She always took on tough topics as she offered new perspectives on those issues. Her beauty and comedic ability earned her the unofficial title as The World’s Sexiest Comedian. She was in April 2015, nominated as a finalist for “Best Comedian” at the Shorty Awards. She, however, lost out to Hannibal Buress.
Nicole Arbour has also been a motivational speaker for the #GoTeam movement. Having been in a nasty car accident which left her suffering chronic pain for a long time and had her contemplating suicide, she uses her voice to motivate other people. She once said that depression is in the head of the person suffering from it and that she won her battle against it by not thinking about it. She said she used her hatred for the word “disabled” to motivate herself to get better. That led to a serious public backlash.
Her most ill-famed moment, however, came when she made the now infamous ‘Dear Fat People’ video which endorses fat shaming on her YouTube channel. The video was widely shared on social media, garnering millions of views. It caused a great deal of controversy which led to YouTube temporarily removing the video from its site over claims it may have violated its terms of service. The video was however made available again but this time with its comments disabled as people began to threaten its author on it.
Hollywood celebrities and the mainstream media joined in the criticism of the video but Arbour remained unapologetic about it. It gained her so much fame as she appeared on talk shows to defend her actions. She insisted that the message on it was not mean but just satirical comedy.

Nicole Arbour has been in a number of high profile relationships. She dated Travis Stanley in 2008 and then Matt Webb in 2012 up until 2014. Her most famous relationship was, however, with Matthew Santoro, a fellow YouTube star who she broke up with in 2015.
Their relationship became a topic for discussion for the public after Santoro posted a video titled “My Abuse Story” where he claimed that Arbour physically and emotionally abused him. He further claimed that she made him cut ties with his friends and family over her issues with jealousy. Arbour released her own video to deny the allegations.
