Looking for a singer that spits a lot of F-words when speaking with the media? Then your guy is Noel Gallagher. The former Oasis co-lead and guitarist has led a controversial lifestyle since music made him popular. He has brashly criticized a lot of his fellow musicians from Phill Collins to , rival Blur bandmate Damon Albarn and of course his own brother with whom he made lots of music with back when their band was still rock solid.
As a result of Noel’s sadistic attitude, his musical talent has been deemed as “overrated”. Back in 1999, a poll of fellow guitarist voted him as the most overrated guitarist of the last millennium. Notwithstanding, Noel Gallegher appears to have a loyal fan base as he continues to make music with his own rock band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Noel Gallagher Biography
Gallagher’s birth name is Noel Thomas David Gallagher. He was born in Longsight, Manchester, England as the second son to Irish Catholic couples Peggy and Thomas Gallagher on 29 May 1967. He has an older brother Paul in addition to Liam who is younger by 5 years. The boys were a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of their father Tom who was an alcoholic. Tom who was often reclusive also domestically abused their mother Peggy who by 1976 had had enough and divorced him. She gained control of her sons and began raising them alone.
Noel Gallegher’s brash attitude can be traced back to his early childhood days when he got into trouble more often than not. A regular truant, Noel was a part of many street gangs and was involved in a couple of robbery incidents.
One time in his early teens, he was put on probation, a time when he would discover music. As he grew, he nurtured his musical passion and became a part of the English alternative rock band, Inspiral Carpets touring with them for a couple of years.
When he returned to the UK in 1991, he discovered that Liam had begun his own rock band named the Rain. Upon Liam’s invitation, Noel became part of the band and subsequently took creative control of the band renaming it to Oasis. With Noel at the helm, Oasis rose to become one of the hit bands of the 90s. However, his turbulent relationship with Liam culminated in him leaving in 2009 a day after they fought backstage at a concert at the Rock En Seine festival in Paris.
His Net Worth
Noel Gallagher’s net worth is estimated at about £46 million which is about $60 million. His wealth is even higher than his brother Liam’s whose net worth is now estimated at $8 million down from the $50 million it once was back in the days. Liam lost a bulk of his fortune to a really expensive divorce and of course his wild partying lifestyle.
A bulk of Noel Gallegher’s wealth stems from his years with Oasis. As Noel was the principal songwriter, he was entitled to a greater portion of what Oasis made. The rock band played at sold out concerts and sold over 70 million records worldwide. Also, Noel keeps the bucks rolling in with his own band which tours the world. As of 2011, it came to light that he owned a private art collection worth $800,000. His Ibiza villa is valued at over $4 million.

Unsurprisingly, Noel Gallegher has had a tumultuous relationship with the women he has been with but he seemed to have ticked the right boxes with Sara MacDonald, a Scottish publicist whom he has been married to since 2011. It was Gallegher’s second marriage as he parted ways with his first wife Meg Mathew on infidelity grounds. It is said that he cheated on her with Sara. Noel would later claim that he never cheated and only admitted to the adultery to speed up his divorce from her.
Noel met Sara in Ibiza in June 2000. His song “Waiting for the Rapture” was about his initial meeting with her. With Sara Noel shares two sons Donovan and Sonny born on September 22, 2007, and October 1, 2010, respectively. They wedded on 18 June 2011. Their wedding was held at the Lime Wood Hotel in the New Forest National Park and his bosom friend famous British singer Russell Brand served as his best man.
