Olivia Newton-John was born on the 26th of September, 1948, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. She is the youngest child of Irene and Bryn Newton-John. At the age of five, her family relocated to Melbourne, Australia where she was raised alongside her two other siblings; her older sister, Rona, and brother, Hugh.

She achieved her early education at Christ Church Grammar School before proceeding to Australia’s University High School where she had her high school education. Unfortunately, the young talent was not able to complete her education and had to drop out in her mid-teens.

Olivia started experimenting with music at an early age, but she first came into fame when she won the “Sing, Sing, Sing” talent contest. Before long, the rising star was making regular appearances on weekly pop music programs and local daytime TV shows in Australia.

She moved back to England for a time and eventually in 1975, she moved to the United States. During the time she relocated to London temporarily, she teamed up with Pat Carroll, a friend from Australia and together, they created a double act “Pat & Olivia,”. Olivia Newton-John’s Battle With Cancer 

The legendary entertainer was diagnosed with breast cancer the same weekend her father died, leading to her canceling all publicity for her upcoming album. She underwent surgery for the breast cancer in 1992. Overcoming the battle with cancer inspired her album, Gaia, which is a reflection of her experience with cancer.

Being open about her cancer experience earned her a lot of respect and enhanced her popularity. In collaboration with Austin Health, she created the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre (ONJCWC). The ONJCWC which is located on the Austin Campus Melbourne, Australia was opened in June 2012 after Olivia led a group of cancer survivors to raise almost 200 million on a trek across the Great Wall of China.

Olivia has been in remission from breast cancer since 1992 but unfortunately, it returned in 2017. Hopefully, her fight this time around will be as equally successful.
