Donna Brazile is a renowned American political analyst, strategist, adjunct professor, and an acclaimed author. She served as the interim chairperson for the Democratic National Committee from July 2016 to February 2017. Interestingly, Donna Brazile is the first Afro-American woman to manage a major presidential campaign in the United States. She served as a campaign manager for Democrat’s Al Gore in 2000; Dick Gephardt in 1988, and Jesse Jackson in 1984, just to mention a few.

Asides from her political career, Brazile has worked as a political commentator and analyst for CNN, as well as a contributing writer and Columnist for Ms. Magazine and Roll Call Magazine. Donna is a fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics; as well as a member of the advisory board of the Lee and Washington University Mock Convention. Donna Brazile Bio

She was born on December 15, 195,9 and named Donna Lease Brazile in New Orleans, Louisiana in the United States. She is the third out of nine children born to Afro-American parents Lionel Joseph Brazile and his wife Jean Marie. Brazile developed a keen interest in politics from a very young age; she was inspired by a local political candidate who promised to build a playground in their neighborhood. Growing up to achieve her dreams, Brazile is a beneficiary of the TRIO Upward Bound Program during her high school. She then went on to acquire her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Louisiana State University.

Upon graduation, Brazile worked with several advocacy groups in Washington D.C. and was among those that championed the successful campaign of making Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday a national holiday. She also worked as a volunteer during ’s Presidential campaign in 1976 and 1980.

Political Career

Like we aforementioned, Donna Brazile has worked as a political strategist in several presidential campaigns for Democratic candidates. She served as the campaign manager for Jesse Jackson and Walter Mondale in 1984. Later on, she served as a deputy field director during Governor Michael Dukakis election campaign in 1988. During the ‘90s, she served as chief of staff and press secretary to the Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton in Washington D.C. Donna worked extensively as an advisor during ’s presidential campaign in 1992 and 1996. She was promoted to the position of deputy campaign manager in 1999 and eventually a campaign manager for the Presidential campaign of Al Gore in 2000.

Following her impressive record over the years, Brazile was appointed a delegate for the Democratic National Convention in 2008 which saw the emergence of as the Democratic Presidential candidate. She also served as an interim chairperson of the Democratic National Committee in 2012. Donna led the DNC to a successful transition between the outgoing chair Senator and his successor ; after the transition, she assumed her position as the deputy chairperson. She also served as an interim chairperson for the DNC in 2016 following Schultz resignation until February 2017 when she resigned from her position.

Asides from politics, Donna Brazile has worked as a political analyst and commentator for CNN. She has appeared on popular CNN programs such as The Situation Room, American Morning, New Day, CNN Tonight with , and as a panelist on ’s Election Night Coverage. Similarly, she has worked as an associate contributor on ABC News as well as NPR’s Political Corner. She has equally worked as a guest writer for Ms. Magazine and Roll Call magazine. Brazile wrote a book titled Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-Ins and Breakdowns That Put in the White House. It was published in November 2017.

Additionally, Brazile has made a guest appearance in the CBS drama titled The Good Wife and the Netflix political thriller titled House of Cards. She is also a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Why Was She Fired From CNN?

During the 2016 Presidential Election campaign between and President ; Brazile who was an independent election panelist in CNN disclosed vital information which raised several eyebrows and eventually made her lose her job. She forwarded debate questions to Hillary Clinton’s communications director. Furthermore, after a series of investigations, Wikileaks revealed that Brazile had been in constant communication with Clinton’s communication director Jennifer Palmieri.

 

In October 2016, CNN President Jeff Zucker dubbed the act as unethical and disgusting while adding that the network has accepted Brazile’s formal resignation. The following year, Donna Brazile admitted to forwarding the debate questions to Clinton’s campaign communication director in 2016. The details of the email saga were contained in her book which she released later in 2017.

While Brazile has been on the limelight following her political career, little or less is known about her love life. She is a very private person and likes keeping details of her personal life away from the media. Donna has never been linked to any relationship and has never been married. Apparently, Brazile is still single and doesn’t have a husband or kids yet.
