If you are not aware of who Owen Niestat is – then you’re one of many. While the young man has quite a substantial following on social media, he still has a long way to go before he can be called ‘instafamous’ or ‘online famous’. Owen Neistat was born in the year 1998, when his father, , was only seventeen. His mother is Robin Harris, and at the time Owen was born, she was in a relationship with Casey. Unfortunately, his parents separately a little after and were never married even though they were together for over three years.
Owen also has a stepsister, Francine, from his father’s marriage to, the Jewellery Designer.
Currently, Owen is a student of the University of San Francisco, where he is studying Hospitality Management. By 2020, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Owen also temporarily worked as an archives intern at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center in Connecticut where he archived the records of the theatre and arranged/sorted the props the theatre used.
Owen also interned at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Media Lab shortly before he began university. If this proves anything, it’s that Owen is a go-getter who fills his available time with projects that improve his skills.

Casey was born on the 25th of March 1981 in Connecticut. The Youtube star dropped out of high school during his junior year. At 17, Casey left his family and moved into a trailer park with his then-girlfriend, Robin Harris (Owen’s mother). They lived together till he was twenty which is when Casey decided to move to New York City to create a better future for himself. At New York, he worked as a dishwasher and short order cook at various restaurants initially. He was also living a short distance from World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks, he has since described that day as the scariest day of his life.
In 2015, Casey announced that he was creating a video-sharing app, Beme, with Matt Hackett. The app, which allowed users upload four-second videos, was supposed to provide an alternative to all the heavily edited content that are currently present on social media. The app was an incredible success and it was announced in November 2016 that CNN was acquiring Beme for $25 miliion.
The success of Owen’s father is literally the embodiment of the phrase “from grass to grace”.
Owen’s stepmother is , a South African jewellery designer. Candice was born on the 19th of October in 1977 and was actually raised in Texas before she relocated to New York, where she met Owen’s father.
Before launching her jewellery company, FINN Jewelry, she worked as a bartender. Some of her Jewelry clients include , and Naomi Watts.
