Paul Hollywood – Biography

He was born on March 1, 1966, in Wallasey, Cheshire, England, as Paul John Hollywood. The professional baker definitely is not the first in his family. Baking has been in his family for long, his paternal grandfather was also a baker and so is Hollywood’s father. Hollywood is the son of a bakery owner John F. Hollywood and Gillian M. Harman. During his childhood, he attended The Mosslands School. He further schooled at Wallasey School of Art, where he studied sculpture. He later quit school to start working as a baker at his father’s bakery in York. His baking skills helped make him become the head baker at several hotels in the UK.

Career

He has been a judge on the British game show, The Great British Bake Off since it first aired on the BBC in the summer of 2010. He is one of three judges on the show which tests the baking skills of a number of contestants. The show was initially aired on BBC Two for its first four seasons and was then moved to BBC One, where it aired its next three seasons, owing to the show’s ever-increasing followers. The Great British Bake Off show currently airs on Channel 4. Hollywood’s co-judges on the show are Mary Berry and Prue Leigh. Berry quit being a judge on the show and she has since been replaced by Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.

Hollywood made an appearance as a judge on The American Baking Competition alongside Marcela Valladolid for 7 episodes in 2013. The American show is an adaptation of The Great British Bake Off, which Hollywood also featured in as one of its judges. It was broadcast on the CBS Network.

In 2013, Hollywood appeared on his own TV show titled Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds, which aired on BBC One and BBC One HD. The show ran for one season, between November 4 and November 29, 2013, recording 20 episodes, with each running for 45 minutes.

Paul Hollywood also featured as a judge on The Great American Baking Show. Like American Baking Competition, it was also adapted from The Great British Bake Off. The first season of the show aired as The Great Holiday Bakery Show. The reality baking show made its first season premiere on November 30, 2015 and had 4 episodes on it. The second season produced double the episodes of the first and its third season produced 6 episodes, only two of which were aired. The show has featured presenters like , , , Anthony Adams and Emma Bunton. Its judges are , Johnny Luzzini, Sherry Yard and Paul Hollywood. The show currently airs on the ABC Network.

Hollywood featured as a guest on Who Do You Think You Are? A documentary show that traces famous people’s lineages. The British show has aired on the BBC since 2004 and has recorded 15 seasons and over a hundred episodes. On the show, it was uncovered that Hollywood’s maternal grandfather, Norman Harman, served in the Army during World War II. His great-great-grandfather, Kenneth Mackenzie was a policeman back in the 1850s.

In 2005, Hollywood received Gourmand World Cookbook Awards for Top Bread and Pastry Book.

Paul Hollywood was married to a diving instructor, Alexandra Hollywood between 1998 and 2017. The pair met and got married in Cyprus. As a product of their union, they have a son named Josh Hollywood.

Their marriage began to show flaws after it became public knowledge that Paul was engaged in extramarital affairs, which led to the couple’s temporary separation in 2013. Paul further confirmed that he was seeing Marcela Valladolid – a co-judge on The American Baking Competition. He later ended things with Valladolid and got back with Alexandra. But in November 2017, the couple finalized their separation in front of a judge.

Net Worth

The professional baker also engages himself in motor racing and is enjoying an exciting career. His net worth stands at an estimate of £9 million which is roughly $12 million American dollars.
