Brief Bio (Age)

Born on November 6, 1972, in Berkeley, California, United States, the Hollywood actress did not start out with the acting profession. During her higher education at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Rebecca had intended to leave with a degree in Music, majoring in Voice. In the twist of events, the tall and gorgeous beauty dropped out of school and started modelling. This took her to Paris, the fashion capital of the world where she lived for years.

From the early 90s, Rebecca experienced an all-time success in her modelling career, thanks to her stunning frame. She went on to appear on covers of several lingual-editions of top rated lifestyle magazines like Elle Marie, Sports Illustrated, Claire, Allure, GO, Esquire, Cosmopolitan and Glamour. She also advertised for top fashion brands like Maybelline, Victoria Secret, Naomi Campbell, Christian Dior, Tommy Hilfiger, Giorgio Armani, Claudia Schiffer amongst many others. Rebecca made so much fame and success in the modelling world that she was serially named one of the world’s most beautiful women.

In 1998, the “Jolly Blonde Giant” as she’s fondly called was a guest on episode “Chinatown” of the animated talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Delving further into the screen business, Rebecca Romijn hosted MTV’s House of Style for two years (1998 – 2000). She also hosted GSN’s original series and reality show Skin Wars from 2014 to 2016.

Acting Career Breakthrough

Her major break in the acting world came in 2000 with her role as Mystique (the older version of the character) in Marvel’s X-Men. For her role, she had to be covered with body paints which reportedly took about 8 hours to be put on her. She also featured in the subsequent sequels until the role was replaced with Jennifer Lawrence. As a lead character, Rebecca played the role of Laure Ash/Lily in the 2002 film, Femme Fatale. Subsequently, she featured in other movies like RollerballThe Punisher, Dirty Work, Lake City, Godsend, The Con Artist, Love Lock and more. Likewise, she has appeared in other TV series like ABC series Ugly Betty, Pepper Dennis, Eastwick, King & Maxwell and more. Rebecca is currently in the TV series The Librarians, playing the role of Eve Baird.

Still keeping in touch with her first love, Rebecca Romijn also did a little in music. In 2015, she featured in a song for RuPaul’s eighth studio album Realness titled Color Me Love. During the Electro Goth Tribute to Prince, she also performed a cover of Prince’s Darling Nikki.

Before all the flashy successes in her career path, the left-handed damsel says her first job ever was at the age of 16 back home in Berkeley. Her job description was that of a butcher- to cut up dead chickens in a gourmet poultry store.

 Family Life, Husband

Rebecca Romijn was born to Jaap and Elizabeth Romijn. Her father was a furniture maker while her mother was an author and English Instructor at a Community College. Rebecca has an interesting mix of origin as her father was a Netherlands native and Elizabeth was an American with an English-Dutch ancestry. The two met while Elizabeth was on a student exchange program in the Netherlands.

On ageing, the former model surprisingly says she is not afraid of all the facial lines and wrinkles that come with old age. Looking at those on her mum’s “laughter-filled face” makes her joyfully await hers, describing them as attractive.

Rebecca Romijn has been married twice and divorced once. In 1998, she was married to John Stamos. Before their marriage, the two had earlier appeared in single but separate episodes of Friends in 1994. It was reportedly a rocky relationship that led to Stamos filing for a divorce in 2004. The next year, the divorce was finalized and they went their separate ways.

In 2007, the actress got married to actor Jerry O’Connell after dating for more than 2 years. They had a quiet wedding in a surprise backyard ceremony on a ranch. Their invited family and friends were expecting a barbecue but ended up being witnesses as they exchanged their vows.

The Hollywood couple who have been together ever since have two children; twin daughters named Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip O’Connell. The couple, in 2013, mentioned that they were okay with their daughters. In other words, there won’t be any more additions to the number of children they have. It is not clear if they will change their minds in time.
