The curse of being born by famous parents is that no matter how big you get to become, you will always somehow end up in their shadows. That seemed to be the curse of Robin Thicke, until like a few others, he has come to make his own name and become a man of his own making. The Canadian-American singer and songwriter began his musical journey in 1994 and has since then, gone a long way in both his personal and music sides of life.

Robin Thicke’s Biography

The singer was born Robin Alan Thicke on March 10, 1977, by American actress and singer, Gloria Loring to Canadian actor . He was raised alongside a brother by both their parents until 1986 when they suffered a divorce.

His career began taking form since he was just a little kid thanks to the support of his parents most especially his father who helped in working on his earliest songs. But at the time, what he wanted was for his son to concentrate on his education before settling for music.

He went to school in Los Angeles and in his early teens, he became a part of the group, As One. When he wanted to release his first demo, the singer’s father refused to give him the $1,000 he needed for the project because he wanted him to go to school. However, Al Jarreau later provided the money. After the demo was released, Brian McKnight heard it and was impressed enough to teach Thicke somethings before helping him again to get his first record deal at the age of 16 with Interscope Records.

In the coming years, he branched out and began producing and writing songs for others. That continued until 2003 when he released his debut album, A Beautiful World. Without much promotion, the album did not record as much success as expected by Thicke and Interscope which had signed him for the second time. In 2006, he released his second album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke which was more successful than the first.

2008 saw the release of Something Else followed by Sex Therapy: The Session in 2009. In 2011, Love After War came and then he released Blurred Lines in 2013 which had his most successful song, Blurred Lines. In 2014, he released Paula which is an album about his ex-wife Paula Patton and how he felt about her. All through his career which one can describe as successful, Thicke has got many nominations including for 5 Grammy Awards and he has won a number of other awards including 4 Billboard Awards.

When it comes to relationships, Robin Thicke is not necessarily one of those who have been all over the place. When he was only 14, he met Paula Patton who is an actress. The young singer asked her to a dance and two years down the line, in 1993, they began dating.

The two continued dating until 2005 when they tied the knot and became man and wife. The union produced a son, Julian Fuego Thicke who was born in 2010. Having remained together for as much as 21 years, the bet would be that Robin Thick and Paula Patton were going to be together forever. Unfortunately, the separated after 9 years of marriage in 2014 and in 2015, they were divorced. During the battle over the custody of their son, Robin was accused of child abuse, with claims that he spanks and punches Julian. There were also accusations against him by Paula who claimed he physically abused her during their marriage.

Although he was greatly affected by the divorce to a point of releasing an album about her, he would bounce back and find love again in April Love Geary. He began dating the model in 2014 and by 2018, they had had their first child together, Mia Love Thicke. Only six months later, Geary took to Instagram to announce that they were expecting a second child which should arrive by March 10, 2019, which also happens to be Robin’s birthday.

The announcement attracted a lot of backlash from followers on Instagram who said she needed to have taken time to heal from her first birth considering that she was only 23.
