Pete at that time was the organisation’s executive director, a position he occupied from 2007 to 2012. The Vets for Freedom was founded by a group of Iraq and Afghan wars veterans and the organization is known for promoting the recruitment of US Troops during the 2007 Iraq War among other things.

Coincidentally, Pete was battling with the trauma caused by his separation from his first wife and high school sweetheart Meredith Schwarz.
