Early Life

There are conflicting reports about Sara Eisen’s actual date of birth with some reports putting her birthdate in 1970 while others have her date of birth listed in the mid-1980s. As a result, her date of birth and actual age remain a mystery. However, it is public knowledge that the journalist was born Sara Aliza Eisen in Cincinnati, Ohio and comes from a family of doctors. Her mother, Dr. Jane Eisen, is a retired pediatric dentist while, her father, Dr. Drore Eisen, is a dermatologist and also the founder and director of CDx Diagnostics

For her education, Sara Eisen attended New York University (NYU) after high school. She then went on to gain her Master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a concentration in Business Reporting.

Career As A Journalist

Before CNBC, Sara Eisen began her media career while in college when she began working as an intern with a startup called, which was where she gained experience in foreign trading. After going back to school and equipping herself with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, she got another internship, but this time with Bloomberg TV in Hong Kong.

After gathering first-hand experiences in the field, Sara Eisen relocated to New York and became a full-time employee at Bloomberg, starting as a production assistant in 2008. However, it was her drive and passion for the foreign exchange markets that served as the key to her meteoric rise in the profession. In 2008, when the world was in the middle of a financial crisis and the company needed someone with a sound understanding of the workings of the ‘crazy markets’, Sara seized the opportunity and was given a chance on Bloomberg Radio and then TV to report on foreign exchange, thereby landing her big break.

As a Bloomberg correspondent, Sara covered several international stories such as the post-Tsunami and nuclear crisis in Japan, and the European debt crisis. She also attended multiple G20 and IMF meetings around the world. The American journalist was also a regular on the program – On The Economy for Bloomberg Radio, while also working as a correspondent and co-host for the morning TV show, Bloomberg Surveillance with Tom Keene. She also appeared on Lunch Money for the network.

In 2013, Sara Eisen left Bloomberg to join CNBC as a correspondent. At CNBC, she has become the viewers’ delight because of her ability to tackle business issues while providing proper insight and an in-depth perspective on her financial reporting. She keeps those interested in business glued to their screens with her insightful discussions on the subject matter. She worked as a co-host of CNBC’s Worldwide Exchange with Wilfred Frost before she was given a role as co-host of Power Lunch alongside Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, Tyler Mathisen and Melissa Lee. She is also a co-host of CNBC’s morning show Squawk on the Street.

In 2015, they announced their engagement and shortly after, they got married in a Jewish wedding ceremony in Brooklyn on the 29th of May, 2016.

Matthew, who is also an entrepreneur, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors and later got his Masters’ degree from the University of Sussex in England. He was raised in Washington by his parents who are retired attorneys, Ezra Levine and Laura Levine.
