Scott Adams is an American cartoonist and a prolific writer who was born on the 8th of June 1959 on in Windham, New York, United States of America. He was given the full name Scott Raymond Adams at birth and his parents were Paul and Virginia Adams. From a very young age, Scott developed a passion for drawing comics and started drawing his personal comics when he was just six years old. He kept mastering his passion until when he was eleven that he went for a drawing competition and won.

He had his early education at Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School, where he graduated with the highest grade in 1975, before proceeding to the Hartwick College to study Economics and subsequently graduated in 1979. Upon graduation from college, he went to California to further his education at the University of California, Berkeley where he received an MBA in 1986.

As a well trained Economist, Scott began to work at the Crocker National Bank in San Francisco as a teller in the bank. He was robbed on two occasions within four months as the teller in the bank. Over the years with the bank, Scott Adams has also served in various capacities as the budget analyst, programmer, commercial lender, production manager, and supervisor. He is also said to have worked for Pacific Bells in 1986 where he handled numerous jobs pertaining to finance and technology till 1995.

After vast experience in the field of economics and finance, Scott Adams ventured into creating cartoons fulltime and he created a comic strip called Dilbert. The Dilbert was involved in creating cartoons in 800 newspapers in 1996 and subsequently, he published his first business book ‘The Dilbert Principle’ which went viral.

Scott Adams continued to blossom in his field and he has made numerous national contributions as a cartoonist. He won the Best Newspapers Comic Strip of the year 1997 as well as the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year that same year given by the National Cartoonists Society. In the following year, he started a television series which was later halted for reasons that were not made public. However, by the year 2000, his comic strip was already in 2,000 Newspapers across 57 countries and has been translated into 19 different languages.
