Scott Porter ìs an American actor who is best known for his role in the NBC television drama Friday Night Lights. He is also an occasional singer and has performed songs like Someone to Fall Back On and Pretend, that is featured on the soundtrack of the movie, Bandslam.

Scott Porter Biography

Matthew Scott Porter was born on July 14, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska, United States. He was raised by his parents along with his two siblings two siblings, Ariana Porter, and Brendan Porter. As a child, Porter has always been interested in sports, thus it was natural that he became a member of the football team during his days in Lake Howell High School in Winter Park, Florida.

Before graduating from high school in 1997, he was a wide receiver on his team. He went on to study at the University of Central Florida where he co-founded an A Cappella vocal group called 4:2: Five and Mosaic. His life as a student didn’t all end in fun and partying, Porter took on jobs like babysitting and had no time to party.

Scott Porter has been an active actor since 2004 when he portrayed the character, Matthew in the Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz. In 2006, before joining the cast of Friday Night Lights, he featured in episodes of three television series and operas including Ugly Betty, As the World Turns and The Bedford Diaries. 

The following year, he accepted a role in the movie Music and Lyrics(2007), followed by Speed Racer (2008). He featured alongside , , , and others in the romantic comedy-drama film, Bandslam in 2009.

The same year, Porter and  co-starred in the romantic comedy film The Good Guy. As a fan of comic books and video games, the Omaha native has auditioned and voiced several comic book hero roles since 2011. So far he has featured in games such as X-Men: Destiny; The Walking Dead: Season Two (2013-2014); Marvel Heroes (2013); Batman: Arkham Knight (2015); Lego Marvel’s Avengers (2016); Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series (2017); Spider-Man (2018) and others.

As a performer, Porter has performed for Off-Broadway in collaboration with another A Cappella band named Toxic Audio.

Among the on-screen projects he took on in 2010 is the legal drama series, The Good Wife; the television series Nomads and Dear John. He also ranked No. 10 on the list of 100 Sexiest Men that year.

In 2011, he once again played the role of a lawyer in Hart of Dixie, alongside co-star . Porter debuted as one of the main characters in the second season of the famous video game series, The Walking Dead in 2013, and lend his voice as Lukas in Minecraft Story Mode. He is also a figure in the EA Sports game Madden NFL 18‘s Longshot mode.

Scott Porter is one of the children born to Robin and Merle “Butch” Porter. His parents grew up in the same city, Sioux City and his father, Butch was a drummer in several bands in the 1960s and ’70s. The older Porter also played on cruise ships and was a drummer for Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Tom Eglin.

Like most successful men, Porter is a family man who has been married to his wife, Kelsey Mayfield, a casting director and former cheerleader at the University of Texas, since April 20, 2013.

The duo met on the set of Friday Night Lights and after five long years in a stable relationship, they got engaged in January 2012. They welcomed there first child, son McCoy Lee Porter on May 23, 2015, and later had their daughter Clover Ash Porter on August 10, 2017.
