Amandla Stenberg grew up under the spotlight. Starting off as a child model at the tender age of four, she worked her way to commercials and eventually found her calling as an actress. She was born on the 23rd of October in 1998 to Karen Brailsford, an African-American spiritual counselor/writer and Tom Stenberg of Danish ancestry. Her place of birth is in Los Angeles, California. As an adorable four-year-old, Amandla Stenberg went into catalog modeling for Disney and also did some commercials for brands like Boeing. It wasn’t until 2011 that she got her first feature film role in Colombiana, playing the younger version of character (Cataleya Restrepo). It took a year after her debut for her breakthrough to come with her role as Rue in the 2012 blockbuster film, The Hunger Games. She lent her voice to Bia in the 2014 animated film Rio 2 and between 2013 and 2014, she joined the cast of the season one of Sleepy Hollow in a recurring role as Macey Irving. While she was seen in four episodes of Sleepy Hollow, Amandla became a series regular on Mr. Robinso in the summer of 2015, playing Halle Foster in six episodes.

A ball of talent she is, Amandla Stenberg explored her musical side in 2013, singing harmonies at Los Angeles venues alongside singer/songwriter Zander Hawley. Teaming up to form a folk-rock duo known as Honeywater, the two dropped their first EP in August 2015.
