This amazing professional wrestler was born in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan, on the 22nd of August 1980. The daughter of Ikuei Yamamoto, she grew up with two siblings – a sister named Miyuu Yamamoto and a brother named Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto.

Regarding her education, there is no available information about where she was tutored for her elementary, secondary, and tertiary education. 1. Seiko Darvish Comes From A Family Of Athletes

It’s no surprise that Seiko boasts a spectacular career as a wrestler since she was born into a family with an impressive history in sports. According to records, Seiko and her siblings were pushed into having an interest in wrestling at an early age.

Her dad was a professional wrestler and was also among those who competed for Japan at the 1972 Olympics, while her brother, Norifumi, is a renowned mixed martial artist and kickboxer in the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Professionally known as Kid Yakamoto, Norifumi competes in the Bantamweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Her sister is equally a star in the world of female wrestling. As a mixed martial artist, Miyuu has snagged one Asian Wrestling Championships as well as three world title over the course of her career.

Seiko, on her own part, is a four-time world champion. From 1999 to 2003, Yamamoto competed and outsmarted notable female wrestlers such as Russian wrestler – Lubov Volosova, Canadian star – Erica Sharp, Russian heavyweight – Natalia Ivashko, and Ukrainian star – Tetyana Lazareva. However, the wrestler never got the opportunity to make an appearance in the Olympics regardless of her enviable success at the world championships.

2. She Has Been A Coach In The U.S Team

Following her temporary retirement from wrestling, Seiko Darvish was invited to lend her expertise in the United States’ women’s freestyle wrestling team which has never won a gold medal before.

Her effort and hard work eventually paid off when one of her students, Helen Maroulis, won an Olympic gold medal in women’s freestyle after defeating Saori Yoshida, becoming the first American wrestler to achieve such feat. Interestingly, Helen was the same wrestler that denied Seiko Darvish the opportunity of making it to the 2004 Olympics.

3. Seiko Darvish Was Married Before 

Before Yu came into the wrestler’s life, she was previously married to the Japan-born handball player, Hideaki Nagashima They tied the knot in the year 2006 and got divorced in 2014 after having two sons together. It is not clear if the kids are living with their mother in the U.S or father in Japan.

Yu Darvish and Seiko announced to the world that the couple had given birth to their first child, a son born on July 29, 2015.

Like Seiko, Yu Darvish was once married to an actress named Saeko. The Japanese film star is only known by her first name rather than her surname and she is often mistaken for Seiko. However, the two look different in real life and while Yamamoto is an international figure, Yu’s first wife mostly known in Japan where she lives and manages her acting career.

Prior to their divorce in 2012, Darvish and Saeko had two sons together following their marriage on 11th November 2007. Their first son was born in March 2008 and second was born in 2010, precisely in February.
