Shelby Holliday’s Biography

Shelby Holliday was born to Nancy Holliday and Jeff Holliday on December 11, 1985, in Denver, Colorado. Growing up, she was a huge sports fan, her passion for sports came from her dad who was a basketball coach. Shelby grew up liking sporting activities like swimming, running, basketball, golf, and soccer. Her dad is no longer a basketball coach, he now works in finance, even though he has a degree in journalism.

Holliday was raised in her birth city and she attended Cherry Creek High School in Colorado. After she graduated from high school, she then enrolled at the University of San Diego. Back in college, she was part of the female basketball team and also a member of the university TV, USDtv. Holliday was a member of USD’s chapter of the Alpha Phi sorority and she was in charge of writing the female fraternity’s monthly newsletter. She graduated from the University of San Diego in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Her Career

Holliday is highly inspired by her father and it is from him that she inherited her enthusiasm for journalism, and she grew up with interest of becoming a broadcaster. She started living her passion for journalism back in high school running a live journal blog back then and also wrote in her high school newspaper. Prior to her graduation from the university, she worked as an intern at NBC for close to half a year. During which time she worked as a reporter, and edited/produced video reports.

After she graduated from USD, she started working at UWIRE, a wire service powered by student journalists all across the universities and colleges in the United States. It serves as a central point, connecting all its 850 members. At UWIRE, Holliday worked as a reporter and producer, covering both political and business news. She also reported and produced news for Fox News and Fox Business Network. In the process, she covered the 2008 presidential election with Fox News. She stopped working for UWIRE in 2009.

In March 2010, Holliday began working as an anchor and reporter for Channel One News in New York City. Channel One used to be a content provider, which started operation in 1989 but has been shut down since May 2018. While she was at Channel One, she worked as a producer and reporter and also anchored Channel One’s daily news. It was during her time at Channel One that she got tagged as an international journalist. She reported several international stories, such as Nelson Mandela’s funeral in South Africa, covered the Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and also the military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay. In June 2014, she ceased working at Channel One.

Soon after she stopped working at Channel One, she started working at Bloomberg Television; an international cable and satellite business news TV channel, which is based in the United States and has its headquarter in New York. At Bloomberg television, she worked as a reporter and also produced the daily news and market segment. She interviewed government officials and business leaders while at Bloomberg.

In 2015, she started working for the Wall Street Journal New York City, a business-based international daily newspaper with its head office in New York. She is currently a senior video reporter for the New York-based international news agency.

The broadcaster is married to Jonathan Zwart her longtime boyfriend. The couple got married on August 29, 2015. Their wedding ceremony was a private one which had in attendance only close family members and a few friends.

Shelby Holliday’s new family comprises of just herself and her husband as they are still expecting their first child. Her other family members include her father, Jeff Holliday and her mother, Nancy Holliday. She has two siblings, a sister and a brother but their names are not known to us.
