Some of us live for NFL and chaps like Stefon Diggs are why we can’t get enough of the National Football League’s version of the gridiron sport. Since Diggs joined The Purple People Eaters, he’s pulled off enough phenomenal feats, thereby convincing the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based team that he’s a wide receiver to keep.

As of 31st July 2018, the Purple and Gold team handed Mr. Diggs another deal that would extend his stay with the side. From what we learned, it was a five-year contract worth . The deal which will be effected next year would see Stefon pocket as much as $14 million per season. It also came with a $15 million signing bonus.

No one would say the wide receiver isn’t worthy of the contract, it is well deserved as his three-year stint with The Vikes has been very productive. He started in 34 of the 40 games he played and could boast of 15 touchdowns, 200 receptions, and 2,472 receiving yards. In view of this, he became the fastest wide receiver of The Vikes to attain 200 receptions.

It is a widely held view that this wide receiver would knock down so many walls in the world of NFL. Apart from his aptitude for the game, this is so because age wouldn’t be his enemy. The footballer was born on 29th November 1993 after which he was named Stefon Mar’sean Diggs. His place of birth was in Gaithersburg, Maryland which was equally where he was raised alongside his siblings.

As far as we can tell, Diggs has always been athletically inclined. During his high school days at Our Lady Of Good Counsel located in Olney, Maryland; he excelled both as a sprinter and as a footballer. Although he participated and performed remarkably fine in several track and field events, it was his accomplishments as a footballer that earned him a major bulk of the attention he enjoyed.

Playing as a junior, he accumulated 23 touchdowns, 810 receiving yards, and ultimately, grabbed the second place for the Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year. Diggs continued to nurture his passion for the game and his senior year saw him achieve more. He went beyond pulling off 8 touchdowns to pile-up 277 rushing yards and 770 receiving yards. His outstanding performance triggered his rating as a five-star recruit on several platforms and generated much talk about him being the best player and wide receiver among his peers in the nation. As such, Stefon Diggs got an invite to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl of 2012. Prior to that (in 2011), he was crowned as the U.S. Army All-American Junior Combine MVP. That’s not all, the chap received a handful of other prestigious recognition.

Stefon didn’t lose his touch when he joined the University of Maryland’s Terrapins football team. Honoring the scholarship he received from the institution, he blazed for its team from 2012 to 2014. For his many realizations with the team, he was in 2014, named in the second team of All-Big Ten. Stefon abandoned his college career after his remarkable junior season and entered the NFL Draft for the year 2015. This saw him drafted by the Minnesota Vikings as the 146th overall pick in the 5th round; a decision in which The Vikes and their fans are still very much pleased with.

His Brother and Family

The Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver’s parents are Aron and Stephanie Diggs. Stefon is the eldest of their three sons and he now serves as a father figure of the family. As it happened, Aron his father died in 2008 after he suffered a congestive heart failure.

Although we can’t tell what’s up with his mom Stephanie at the moment, it is a common knowledge that Stefon’s brothers, Darez and Trevon are getting set to storm NFL like their bro. Whilst Darez born in 1995 is playing for The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Blazers, Trevor born in 1998 is with the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama.
