Stella was born in Popayan, Columbia on March 29, 1956. The names of her parents remain unknown. A Columbia citizen, she grew up in Columbia where she also received a formal education. She studied arts while in college, though it is not known the institution in which she had her education.

Stella later moved to Los Angeles where she ran a business in the line of art and eventually set up an antique shop that dealt in different antique and precious object collections. Growing up, Stella never nursed the ambition of being under the spotlight let alone becoming a Hollywood personality. However, there was a twist in her fate when Sir Anthony Hopkins walked into her antique shop to purchase antique furniture.
