The Grammy award-winning singer is certainly one of the most loved music stars of our time especially seeing as his talent and success has inspired a lot of people to pursue their dreams irrespective of the challenges that try to stop them. As a Soul, jazz, and pop singer who is also vast enough to extend to other genres Stevie Wonder has been a success story all the way.

Quick Bio

The pop singer was born Stevland Hardaway Judkins on May 13, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan and was raised by his parents, Calvin Judkins and Lula Mae Hardaway alongside his five other siblings. His mother would later take up his upbringing along with that of his other siblings after she got divorced from his father before Stevland was four. Following the divorce of his parents, he moved with his mother to Detroit where he grew up and where she changed his name to Morris.

Since he was a little kid, Stevie showed great musical talent; he began by singing in the choir before his mother started writing songs for him. At just 11 years old, he signed his first deal with Tamla label and released his first album The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie in 1962, followed by Tribute to Uncle Ray in the same year. By 2005 when he released A Time to Love, the pop singer already had 25 other albums.

Through a career that has seen him become one of the most significant musicians of the 20th century, Stevie Wonder has won many awards including 22 Grammy awards and the Academy Awards among many others. He has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom which is the highest civilian honor one can get in the United States.

What Happened To His Eyes?

In the past, many have wondered if Stevie Wonder was really blind. Yes, he is. To be fair to those who peddle the theory that he is not blind, there are instances and occasions where he did things that suggested he could see. For example, there was a time he caught a falling microphone stand during a live performance. But then, there are many who can tell of how sharp the senses of those who have lost their sights can be.

Another reason why some people argue that he probably could see is as a result of a reported operation that he was preparing for in 1999. , the surgery which was scheduled to be performed at the Johns Hopkins University might be able to restore his sight partially. From then on, nothing more has been heard about the operation, but available indications show that the pop star is still not able to see.

In case you are wondering what happened to his eyes, he lost them shortly after his birth. This is as a result of some complications that he suffered following his premature birth.

Is Stevie Wonder Married? – Wife and Children

Stevie Wonder has been married three times in the past. The first woman to became his wife was Syreeta Wright. Born in 1946, Syreeta was a singer and a songwriter who had had her musical career reaching its climax in the 1970s and 1980s. She got married to Wonder in 1970, and only 2 years later, the two went their separate ways.

The next time that Stevie got married was in 2000, and this time around, it was to Kai Millard Morris who is a fashion designer. The marriage lasted longer than Wonder’s first, but it wasn’t to last forever as it ended again in a divorce almost 10 years after the two walked down the aisle. After splitting in 2009, Stevie filed for a divorce in 2012, and by 2015, everything was settled and they were officially divorced.

Tomeeka Robyn Bracy became the third woman to marry the singer after tying the knot in 2017. They had dated for some time before getting married. At the time of their wedding, Tomeeka Robyn Bracy was 42 while Wonder was 67.

Married trice, Stevie Wonder has 9 children, but not all of them were born by the women he married. His marriage to Syreeta Wright did not produce any child, but after their divorce, Stevie met and had two children with Yolanda Simmons; Aisha Morris who was born in 1975 and Keita Morris in 1977.

Stevie Wonders third child is Mumtaz Morris. He was born to the singer by Melody McCulley in 1983. His second wife, Kai Millard Morris birthed two sons for him, Kailand Morris born in 2001 and Mandla Kadjay Carl Stevland Morris in 2005. His third wife Tomeeka Robyn Bracy is the mother of his two youngest children. There is very little information available about them.
