Succession Season 3 will be gracing our screens very soon and from all indications, viewers will continue to be intrigued by the wealth conscious Roy family and their tussle for power and control. Being the owner of one of the biggest companies in the world comes with a lot of challenges, but Roy’s patriarch Logan Roy seems to be enjoying the evening of his days amid family squabbles brought about by his children’s lobbying to succeed him.
Such is the storyline of the Succession series created by Jesse Armstrong and it has drawn lots of viewers from across the globe. With its viewership rate constantly on the rise, it is anticipated that Succession is still very far from its final days. Having successfully aired two seasons, word broke in August 2019 that HBO has renewed the series for a third season.
With Five prime time Emmy nominations, several awards including the British Academy Television Award for Best International Programme, and an outstanding storyline, Succession is indeed worthy of commendation, and deserves the prestigious pedestal on which it stands presently. All eyes and ears have been focused on HBO with regards to the release date of Succession Season 3. For Jesse Armstrong, he can only wait to see how things turn out. For HBO it has been one question to another following news of the show’s renewal. Information at hand remains that the release date for the third season of Succession has not been revealed. It is anticipated however that it will hit the screens in the year 2020.
The first season of the show premiered in June 2018 and was a massive success. The second season then followed, premiering in August 2019. The show was renewed for a third season almost immediately after season two’s premiere. The third renewal infact did not come as a surprise, bearing in mind the show’s admirable reception. Succession may not be the highest in ratings, but remains on top with a few other shows for its exceptional theme which evidently resonates with its audience. More so, Roy who came off as weak and with deteriorating health in the first season was much stronger and active in season two, meaning that there is still more to expect from the Waystar boss.
It is only reasonable to think that the third season of Succession will come in the year 2020 and during the summer like the others. That’s like saying we all have a little more period of time to wait for the next release. However, HBO chooses to tighten its grip on the information pertaining to the release date at the moment, but as things unfold we will find out.

Key characters like Jeremy Strong (Kendall), Kieran Culkin (Roman), Sarah Snook (Shiv), and of course ailing Logan Roy (Brian Cox) to make a return. There is also anticipation of the return of other supporting characters played by some of the best Hollywood actors around. This includes J Smith Cameron (Gerri) and others.
Intriguing Storyline of the New Season
Since the confirmation of a third season has been made and is close at hand, What Will Happen to Waystar Royco has been the question of many viewers. Uncertainty of who will take after the CEO Logan Roy is the major puzzle many have attempted to solve. Already Holly Hunter and Shiv are names on the lips of many given their recent closeness to the Roy patriach. Although Hunter is not a part of the family per se, she seems to have succeeded in pleasing him in so many ways and may end up becoming a strong contender among the Roys. There is also Shiv who recently became a favorite. All the same, our fingers are still crossed.
