She is best known on TV for her role as forensic pathologist Dr Camille Saroyan in 11 seasons of the Fox TV forensic crime series Bones. Her role as Dr Camille Saroyan was initially intended to be a guest role, however, it was extended into a regular role because the character was well received by fans. Tamara Taylor was born September 27, 1970, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was also raised in Canada as an only child. The actress has revealed that she didn’t complete her high school education. According to her, she dropped out of high school in order to pursue a career in modeling and to ‘see the world’. Prior to that critical decision, her mother had her enrolled in modeling classes so as to get her to gain more confidence.

Taylor eventually relocated to Los Angeles to give acting a shot after visiting her bosom friend Cree Summer on the set of the NBC 90s sitcom A Different World. She later scored an uncredited role on an episode of A Different World (1991). This was quickly followed by a number of other TV roles and commercials.

Taylor got her breakthrough on the small screen playing the regular role of Grace Wilcox in the 90s family drama series Party of Five (1996–97). As a budding actress, she made guest appearances in several other drama series including Dawson’s Creek (1998), Early Edition (1999) and Providence (1999).

At the turn of the century, the talented actress was cast in the recurring role of Dr. Ana Syphax in the medical drama series City of Angels (2000). She was also cast in a regular role in the short-lived sitcom Hidden Hills (2002–03). Through the early 2000s, Taylor guest-starred in numerous notable TV series such as Six Feet Under (2004), CSI: Miami (2004), NCIS (2005-06) and Numb3rs (2006).

In 2006, the talented actress landed a guest role on the second season of the police procedural crime series Bones. Taylor rendered a brilliant portrayal of the character Dr. Camille Saroyan which endeared her to fans of the show. The producers then developed the character into a series regular which lasted from the 2nd to the 12th and final season of the hit series.

In 2015, Taylor made a guest appearance on an episode of the reality series Hell’s Kitchen. In 2018, she was cast in the Netflix Sci-fi series Altered Carbon portraying the character Oumou Prescott.

In her long-running career, Tamara Taylor has also recorded a number of movie credits. She marked her big screen debut in the comic Sci-fi movie Senseless (1998), followed by a supporting role alongside in the telefilm Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999). She later starred in Serenity (2005) as well as ‘s Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005). In 2015, Taylor lent her voice to the wonder woman character Bekka in the animated superhero film Justice League: Gods and Monsters.
