The presenter was born on September 16, 1970, in Luling, Texas where she was raised by her mother Mary Newton and stepfather Clarence Newton Sr. whom Tamron truly loves and she credits her pursuit of a career in journalism to him as he was her main motivator. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Temple University and upon graduation, she started her career as an assignment reporter at KBTX in Byan, Texas then moved to KTVT which is a CBS TV station.

In 1997, she started working for WFLD-TV, a TV station owned by Fox which was located in Chicago, Illinois where she reported on issues pertaining to local politics. She also anchored the ‘Fox News in the Morning’ which was a 3-hour program and reported on numerous ‘Breaking news’ stories among which was the Amtrak’s train accident in 1999. She started her own report segment in 1999 that was titled ‘The Bottom Line’ which has its focus on consumer reports and she was known to have held several other positions at the station before her departure from there in 2007.

In 2008, she hosted in a one-on-one interview before he announced his intent to run for the presidency. She was also a co-host with presenter David Shuster on the program ‘The Big Picture’ which was a 2-hour program that ran from June 2009 to January 2010.

In 2010, Tamron was the host of ‘News Nation with Tamron Hall’ which was aired during the week and it covered global news, entertainment news in addition to interviews with high-profile persons. The zealous reporter even covered live news in New York City from Ground Zero after the death of the terrorist Osama Bin Laden was made public. She was also the news correspondent for NBC for the program ‘The Inauguration of Barack Obama’ that was aired in October 2010.
