Dana Hill’s Biography

The actress who we remember as Dana Hill was born as Dana Lynne Goetz; she, however, took up her mother’s last name – Hill. She was born on the 6th of May 1964 in Encino, Los Angeles, California. Her parents were Sandy Hill and Theodore Arthur “Ted” Goetz.

Growing up, Dana was an athletic kid and was noted for coming third in the nationwide 880-yard run and fourth in the mile run. However, a few weeks after achieving this feat, she collapsed while on the track. A medical diagnosis revealed that she had Type 1 diabetes and this went on to affect her growth and health for the rest of her life. As you would expect, this also ended her dreams of becoming a professional athlete.

Despite the challenges life confronted her with early on, Dana Hill wasn’t one that would relent and watch life pass her by without making something out of it. Thus, despite her father’s discouragement, she began pursuing a career as an actress. She first started off working on commercials. In particular, Dana was seen in a 1973 YMCA commercial. Afterward, she began making appearances on screen starting with guest roles in television series like Mork & Mindy, The French Atlantic Affair, Featherstone’s Nest, ABC Afterschool Special, and Family starting from 1978 to 1980.

In 1982, she landed a major role in the television series The Two of Us as Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Gallagher. This saw her act alongside other stars like Tim Thomerson as Reggie Cavanaugh, Peter Cook as Robert Brentwood, Oliver Clark as Cubby Royce and Mimi Kennedy as Nan Gallagher.

In the following year, Dana Hill appeared in the film Shoot the Moon (1882) as Sherry Dunlap and followed it up with roles in other projects like Cross Creek (1983), Waiting to Act and National Lampoon’s European Vacation both in 1985. She lent her voice to the character of Teddy 2 in Jetsons: The Movie (1990) and also did same as Danny in Rover Dangerfield and Jerry in Tom and Jerry: The Movie (1992) which marked her last film work.

Over the course of her career, Dana obviously had more roles in television series than she did for films. Some of her works in the 80s therein include The Member of the Wedding, CBS Schoolbreak Special, Combat Academy, Pound Puppies [voice roles of Toots/Colin] and Marvin, Baby of the Year.

In the 90s which sadly became a decade Dana Hill didn’t see its end, she was in Sugar and Spice, Widget [voice role as Kevin], Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [Foster Fenwick’s voice], Sonic the Hedgehog [Young Sally’s voice], What-a-Mess and the trio of The Hot Rod Dogs and Cool Car Cats, Adventures from the Book of Virtues and The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper which were her last works in 1996.
