Taye whose name comes from the nicknaming of Scotty as “Scott-Taye” was born on January 2, 1971, in Newark, New Jersey. Taye met Idina in 1995 on the set of the Broadway musical Rent where he played the role of Benjamin Coffin and Idina, the role of Maureen Johnson.
