The year 1996 was the most difficult year in the life of Troy Dendekker, a beautiful American woman. Troy happily got married to the man of her dreams that year but her joy was cut short one week after they tied the knot when her husband Bradley Nowell tragically died.

Though Troy Dendekker is successful in her own right, she is best known as the widow of the musician, Bradley Nowell. She was born on the 4th of March 1971 in the United States of America. Troy is the daughter of Robin and David Newton but there is no information about her siblings and relatives.

Dendekker had her high school studies at Notre Dame High School but it is not known if she furthered her education at the university or not.

1. Her Marriage To Nowell Brought Her To Limelight

Troy was an ordinary woman who began enjoying a lavish lifestyle and tremendous media coverage after she started dating and subsequently got married to the lead singer of the American ska punk band, Sublime.

Troy Dendekker and Bradley Lowell met each other for the first time in the early 1990s through their mutual friends. After an initial attraction, the pair started a romantic relationship that would produce a child.

The two eventually got married on the 18th of May 1996 in a lavish Hawaiian-themed event in Las Vagas. Born Bradley James Nowell, Dendekker’s former husband was born on the 22nd of February 1968 in Belmont Shore, Long Beach, California, U.S.

He launched his music career in 1981 and was well-loved for excelling in musical genres such as Ska punk, reggae rock, reggae, third wave ska, alternative rock, acoustic rock, hip hop, and punk rock. Nowell was also a multi-instrumentalist as well as a songwriter and music producer.

The son of Jim Nowell and Nancy Nowell, Bradley learned guitar from his father and piano and flute from his mother. He started his first band at the age of 16 and later formed his band, ‘Sublime’ along with drummer Bud Gaughin and bassist, Wilson in the year 1988.

2. They Had Their Only Child Before Marriage

Troy Dendekker gave birth to her first child, a son named Jakob James Nowell one year before her marriage to the deceased Sublime frontman. She got pregnant in October 1994 and then gave birth to the younger Nowell on June 25th, 1995, in Long Beach, California.

Like his dad, James is a musician, lead singer, and guitarist. He has his own band called LAW which he launched in 2013 along with bassist Dakota Ethridge and drummer Nicholas Aguilar. Jakob, who was born with a talent to sing, reportedly taught himself to play the guitar and sing as well.

 

3. Her First Husband Died of Heroin Overdose

Bradley Nowell became involved with drugs when he was in school. For many years, he refused to take heroin but he finally did upon entering his twenties after his band recorded massive success. The lead singer continued using the hard drug until after the birth of Jakob when he decided to get clean in order to become a better father to his son.

Sadly, he succumbed to the addiction on the 25th of May 1996, seven days after he tied the knot with his Troy Dendekker. He died in Ocean View Motel in San Francisco while his band was getting ready to embark on a five-day tour in Northern Carolina.

The band’s drummer, Bud Gaugh, was the first person who saw Nowell’s lifeless body on the floor. Bud initially thought that the frontman was too intoxicated get into the bed but he became convinced that he overdosed on heroin when he found a yellow film around his lips.

4. She Has Since Re-Married

A few years after the death of her first husband, Troy Dendekker decided to get married again. She eventually got connected with a man called Kiki Holmes, who would become her second husband. The two exchanged their marital vows in a private ceremony that took place on the 1st of November, 2002. The sweethearts are currently raising a son called Jakes Holmes.

She has an estimated net worth of $1 million even though her past or present occupation is still unknown. It is believed that Troy Dendekker made her wealth from her late husband’s earnings and the money Sublime made from their albums after Bradley’s death.
