Tyler Garcia Posey was born on the 18th of October, 1991, to John Posey and Cyndi Teresa Garcia in Santa Monica, California. His father, John, is also an actor known for his role as Judge Bill Millstone in the TV drama How to Get Away with Murder. Tyler has two brothers – Derek and Jesse, and a sister – Mayra. He attended Hart High School in Santa Clarita and played the piano all through his time in school.

Before his breakout role in 2011, he had steadily worked on film and television shows. In 2002, he featured in the film Collateral Damage as well as the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan where he played the role of ‘s son. In 2007, Posey voiced a character in the Disney Cartoon SheZow which was a part of Shorty Mc Shorts’ Shorts miniseries.
