He had his high school education in Rayton Senior High School, in the town of Rayton, Missouri, Kansas City, where he went to live with his uncle and his wife, Kevin and Sandra Graves.

In school, he played basketball under coach Scalon and proved to be a standout. After high school, he joined the University of Nebraska where he continued in the game.

Prior to his junior year, he was named Big Eight All-Freshman Team, and Second Team All-Big his sophomore year. He was also named the First Team All-Big 12 in his junior year.

However, he decided to declare for the NBA draft after his junior season. Following his declaration, he was selected 23rd overall by the Denver Nuggets in 1998.

Tyronn ended his college career ranked third all-time in assists (432), fourth in three-pointers made (145) and attempted (407), fifth in steals (154), and seventh in scoring (1,577) as well as tied with Dave Hoppen for most games with 30 or more points (7). He graduated from college with a degree in Sociology.

Apart from the parent team where he did not play, he was traded on the draft night, he played for seven other teams and for a total of 11 NBA seasons.

The other teams include Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards as a point guard, and Orlando Magic in the 2003-2004 season after which he was traded to the Houston Rockets.
