The child prodigy, Corey Haim, who emerged as one of the most promising rising stars of Hollywood and the heartthrob of teenagers in the 1980s had his whole career booming for him until his sudden death on March 10, 2010. He had been battling drug addiction before he was found unconscious on the floor of his apartment in California.

The young actor who gathered acclaim for his role in the teen film titled Lucas in 1986 had confessed that his first encounter with hard drugs and alcohol was on the set of the movie, his co-star introduced the innocent Corey to anal sex, alcohol and hard drugs which unleashed an ugly venture into serious drug addiction.

Who Is Corey Haim?

Corey Haim was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the 23rd day of December 1971 to Bernie Haim – his father, who worked as a cloths sales rep and an Israeli-born data processing mother, Judy Haim. His parents sustained their marriage for 18 years and got divorced when their son Corey was just 11.

He grew up in a Jewish family alongside his sister Carol and Daniel who is his half-brother. His mother made him join drama classes in both mime and improvisation to aid him in overcoming his natural shyness.

The young Corey Haim was not particularly hooked on acting, rather, his childhood interests were hockey, music, and collecting comic books. However, when he started accompanying his older sister to auditions, he caught the attention of the organizers and consequently, he began getting roles as a child actor.

When the upcoming actor started making a name for himself in the entertainment industry, he had to quit North York’s Zion Heights Junior High School in 8th grade and face his career in acting. The actor was in a romantic relationship with from 1987 to 1990 but he never got married nor had any kids before his demise.

Charlie Sheen Sexual Accusation

The barrage of accusations came from Corey’s old friend actor Dominik Brascia who told National Enquirer that actor Charlie Sheen sexually abused young Corey Haim on the set of Lucas. According to Dominik, Corey told him how Charlie had anal sex with him after introducing him to drugs and alcohol.

The young actor further said that his abuser became cold and pushed him away when he wanted a second taste but years later, Charlie and Corey had sex again which Corey claimed he did not like one bit and was finally over Charlie.

Corey Feldman who was the late actor’s close friend and co-star corroborated Dominik’s account of the incident and also included that he too was a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of a Hollywood pedophile ring. Although he did not mention Charlie’s name, he said he has six names out of which one is still very much powerful and influential in the entertainment industry today. Feldman believes that the truth will eventually come out when the time is right.

On his own part, Charlie has responded to the accusations leveled against him and categorically denied them. The star of the Two and a Half Men series now living with HIV released an official statement saying the incident never took place. But that didn’t stop the Los Angeles police from investigating the sexual abuse claims.

Corey Haim’s Death

Just before his demise, Corey Haim was sharing an Oakwood apartment with his mother in California where he was found unconscious on the 10th of March 2010 and rushed to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank California, he was subsequently pronounced dead at 38.

Initially, it was suspected that the cause of his sudden death was an overdose of drugs. This is so because some bottles of Haloperidol, Valium, and Vicodin were retrieved from his room. But then, an in-depth investigation into the cause of his death revealed that the actor actually died from natural causes. In fact, his death certificate lists “Community-Acquired Pneumonia” and “Diffuse Alveolar Damage” as the immediate cause of death.

The deceased entertainer was interred on the 16th day of March 2010 at Thornhill memorial chapel located in Toronto. The cost of his burial was covered by a funeral home because Corey Haim was already bankrupt at the time of his demise.
