A head count of the icons of the American entertainment industry will remain inconclusive if film and voice actress Diana Muldaur is not given a mention. Diana is of one of the most versatile actresses in history whose appearance onscreen can get anybody’s attention and there is no doubt that she is a true screen legend as she holds a record of over ninety television roles and several feature films.

Diana’s stage career commenced in 1963 when she made appearances in three Broadway plays namely; Poor Biros, Seidelman and Son and A Very Rich Woman. She also had a recurring role in The Secret Storm – a Manhattan-based soap opera. It was in 1968 that she played her debut movie role on the set of The Swimmer. Diana Muldaur was noted for displaying maturity and composure beyond her age which resulted in her being cast in cool and classy roles often arriving as an intentional contrast to her less-polished male counterparts. Eventually, her big break came on the set of The Survivors – a high profile ABC primetime series which cast her in the lead role of Belle in 1969, but unfortunately, the show was stopped after 15 episodes in the early months of 1970.

The actress was also in L.A. Law where she arrived as Rosalinda Shays and this took her to another level of fame as the Rosalinda character sparked a lot of discussion during the ’90s. Her other notable productions include; Star Trek: The Next Generation, Born Free McCloud, The Other and McQ.

Who Is Diana Muldaur, The Star Trek Actress?

The actress’ place of birth is Brooklyn, New York which makes her an American national but her ethnicity is not known. Her birth date reveals that she was born on the 19th of August 1938 with the given name Diana Charlton Muldaur. She spent her formative years on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts under the care of her parents.

Talking about her academic qualifications and background, Diana Muldaur is an alumnus of Sweet Briar College, Virginia – an institution meant exclusively for women, where she accomplished her graduation in 1960. It is important to note that the famed actress served as the graduation speaker for her Alma matter during her graduation on May 7th, 2000. Not much is known about her early education but the records said that her career in acting took-off during her years in high school and she continued acting all through her college years.

Diana Muldaur, later on, went to study acting under the tutelage of the veteran Stella Adler and went ahead to make a name on the New York stage. She then joined the Screen Actors Guild as a Board Member and she made the record as the debut female to get to the exalted position of the president of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. A position which she assumed in 1983, and served until 1985 when she eventually stepped down.

 

Family: Parents, Siblings, and Spouse

Her mum and dad are Alice Patricia Muldaur and Charles Edward Arrowsmith Muldaur though the details of their professions are not known. However, it is known that Diana Muldaur has only one sibling Geoff Muldaur, her younger brother who grew up to become a singer cum songwriter. Her brother, Geoff is reportedly in a marriage relationship with Maria Muldaur – a notable singer. In addition, Diane’s nieces are Jenni Muldaur and Clare Muldaur-Manchon who are both musicians. She is also a cousin to Kathy Baker’s father.

The popular Star Trek actress has featured a couple of times on the matrimonial front which started with her first marriage to James Vickery – a renowned actor known for several productions. The couple met on the set of The Secret Storm where they were both featured as co-stars in 1965. The duo moved to California in 1968 and their nuptials took place the next year on the 26th of July 1969. James’ marriage to Diana Muldaur lasted for over ten years until her husband’s death in 1979 from the complications of cancer.

Her second foray into matrimony was with Robert Dozier – a renowned producer cum writer and son of the movie producer William Dozier. They tied the knot on the 11th of October 1981, barely three years after the demise of Diana’s first husband. However, Robert had prostate cancer and died on the 6th of January 2012 after almost 21 years of marriage.

Apparently, Diana Muldaur is currently unmarried and there is no record of any offspring from both her first and second marriage.
