Emily Rebecca Kinney’s most high profile role is playing Beth Greene in popular AMC series, The Walking Dead. Her journey to the acting world started at Nebraska Wesleyan University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre.

Emily’s life journey on the 15th of August, 1985, when she was born to parents Vaughn and Jean Kinney. While there isn’t much information on the childhood of the Nebraskan star, she and her family spent a lot of time moving from place to place. She did, however, grow up in the state of Nebraska. Although she tried to move out of the city she loved so much and attended New York University for a semester, she eventually returned home and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Kinney’s move to Broadway was the logical next step on a college life that had her appear in 20 plays. She moved to New York at the age of 21 and worked in coffee shops as a way to support herself while she tried to meet with players in the music and acting industry. She got her first acting role as Anna in 2006 in the play, Spring Awakening. She followed it up with another appearance in the play, August: Osage County.

With two theater appearances in her pocket and her network with other players in the industry, she secured several guest appearances in various TV shows like Law and Order: Criminal Intent, The Unusuals, and a three-episode appearance in Showtime’s The Big C.

She had her feature film debut in 2009 in the movie, It’s Complicated. In 2011, Kinney secured her most prominent role yet in The Walking Dead as Beth Greene. After starting on the show as a recurring character, she was promoted to a show regular before she left the show completely in 2015.

In 2011, other than securing her big break in acting, she released her first music project, Blue Toothbrush. Then in 2013, she released the second project, an EP titled Expired Love. Kinney’s career as a songwriter and singer gave her a spot on The Walking Dead soundtrack, collaborating with on The Parting Glass.

She has released four music projects and gone on two tours in 2015 and 2018. Her acting career thus far has also seen her appear in a few other movies such as Papa in 2016 and Anhedonia in 2018.
