Surpassing Certainty: What My Twenties Taught Me is her second book which revisits her days as a young trans woman, her time as a stripper, her romance with her husband and also her conscious decision to relocate to New York City in pursuit of a master’s degree in journalism.

Janet Mock got married to photographer Aaron Tredwell in Oahu on the 5th of November 2015. According to the trans woman, their journey into matrimony started on the dance floor of a bar on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 2009 where she met Aaron for the first time, she was tipsy when she bumped into the handsome dude who invited her for a drink within a few minutes of meeting him.

Although Janet knew that she can hit it off with the guy, she was unsure of how he was going to react when he eventually hears the full story of her life. Surprisingly, Aaron simply asked for a hug after hearing Janet’s transgender story, he never condemned her, rather, he gave her the needed strength to step out of the closet and present herself to the world as a trans woman.

The American-born writer and television host was born to Charles and Elizabeth Mock in Honolulu Hawaii on the 10th day of March 1983. Janet holds an American nationality and is of African-American ethnicity, she was raised with her only sibling Chad Mock. At age 18, the transgender activist changed her name to Janet after the singer .

The television personality is actually a transgender and makes no secret about it. At the young age of 18, she funded her sex reassignment surgery in Thailand by earning money as a commercial sex worker.

Janet Mock holds the pride of place as the first person among her family members to make it to college level. She graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and went on to achieve a master’s in Arts of Journalism from New York University.

Career

Her successful career took off from People Magazine where she worked for a decade in her capacity as a staff editor before shifting to media advocate. She honored an invitation from as a guest on Super Soul Sunday for a special segment titled Becoming Your Most Authentic Self. Janet Mock has written two books; her first memoir titled Redefining Realness which was released in February 2014 was the first book to be written by a transgender who underwent a transition as a young person.
