Biography

This actor was born James Raymond Simpson on the 21^st of November 1975 in the New Jersey town, Hackettstown. His father was a businessman and he describes his mother as the sweetest woman he has ever known and his biggest supporter. He is the youngest of three children all of whom are male.

Jimmi Simpson earned his high school diploma from Hackettstown high school and his first foray in acting was in an acting class he took while in high school. He went on to bag a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Theatre from Bloomsburg University.

Acting Career

When he graduated from the university, the New Jersey native moved to Massachusetts and spent a total of four seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, honing his act as an actor. His first time on the big screen came with his role as Noah in the comedy Loser (2000), a feature film with which he kicked in the door to the movie industry. After being cast in Loser, the roles he was cast in afterward were in television series such as Rose Red (2002), NYPD Blue (2003), Carnivale (2005); these roles were minor and supporting roles where he featured in one or two episodes. He also got cast in a few movies mostly in supporting roles one of which was as Crash in the movie Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)

All the work Jimmi Simpson had put in during all that time paid off with his appearances in the comedy series that has now become a cult classic – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and his casting as one of the lead characters in Breakout Kings (2011-2012) where he played Lloyd Lowery. These were the gateway jobs to bigger roles in movies and television, notably Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012), White House Down (2013) and House of Cards (2014-15) – a performance for which he was twice nominated along with the rest of the cast for the award of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series from the Screen Actors Guild.
