From 1972 to 1981, Judy Norton Taylor appeared in The Waltons as Mary Ellen Walton. The role endeared her in the hearts of many for years to come. Taylor is an American actress and theatre director who has appeared in both movies and TV shows for which she has come to be known.

The actress began her career in 1968 and by 2017 when she appeared in Finding Harmony, she had already had more than 30 productions to her credit, spreading through her close to four decades of acting.

It was on January 29, 1958, that Judy Norton Taylor was born in Santa Monica, California, U.S. She was brought up by Harry and Constance Norton (her parents) alongside an older sister, Ricki Norton and a brother.

When she was quite young, her older sister started having some relationship problems. Because of this, her stepmother who was a Scientologist introduced the two girls to the religion. At the time, the actress enjoyed it because it meant that she was going to be out of the house at least three nights a week. She was 13 when she became a member of the Scientology.

In 1967, when she was 9 years old, she started her film acting career when she appeared in the film, Hotel. Her next film was Valentine in 1979 and then A Twist of Faith in 1999. In the years that followed, she appeared in the films Off Season (2001), Hansel and Gretel: Warriors of Witchcraft (2013), Blood Is Thicker (2013), Broken: A Musical (2015), The Sparrows: Nesting (2016), and then Finding Harmony (2017).

Judy Norton Taylor became even more popular for her roles on TV which she started in 1968 when she appeared in Felony Squad, and then The Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971). In 1972, she got what would be the biggest role of her career till date when she appeared in The Waltons. The show ran until 1981. Coincidentally, when she got the role to play Mary Ellen Walton in the series, she was also living on Mary Allen Avenue. Later, she would experience another coincidence when she lived on Waltonian Avenge.

Her subsequent TV appearances include Battle of the Network Stars (1979), Battle of the Network Stars (1980), Circus of the Stars (1983), A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion (1993), Millennium (1997), Stargate SG-1 (1998), Beggars and Choosers (1999–2000), and Hollywood Off Ramp (2000).

In 1985, she stirred a controversy that would change the image she has created with her portrayal of Mary Ellen Walton. She posed nude in the August issue of Playboy Magazine of that year. However, she was still able to later find her way around to build back her image to some extent.

Apart from being an actress, she is also a writer and director who was said to have directed and acted in her own play during the 2006 Galveston Island Musical series.

She later found love again in the arms of Randy Apostle whom she married in 1991. The relationship produced her only son, Devin. The marriage came to an end in 2001, 10 years after the union.

Taylor got married for yet another time in 2002. This time around, it was to a publishing executive known as Robert Graves. More than 15 years later, the two are still doing very strong. They live in California.

Apparently, Judy Norton Taylor has been married four times in total. She got married to Lynn Hughes in 1980, after the collapse of her first marriage but there is very little information as regards the union which came to an end before she got married to Apostle.
