Perhaps her most popular television feature is on the Saturday Night Live Comedy show on which she appeared for a six-year period spanning 2005 to 2012.

Wiig as an accomplished comedian has performed with comedy and improvisational groups especially during the early years of her career. Some of her award nominations include a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards and Best Original Screenplay at the Academy and BAFTA Awards among other nominations. These particular nominations came from performing the role of Annie Walker as well as being one of the writers of the widely acclaimed 2011 film Bridesmaids.

Who is Kristen Wiig?

Wiig was born in the state of New York, United States of America. Her early years were spent in the Canandaigua part of the state until her family decided to relocate to Pennsylvania. This was where she completed her elementary and middle school education. She had been enrolled at Manheim Township Middle School and finished her High School years at Brighton High School.

Wiig was a student at Roanoke College although she ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona. Upon graduation, she opted to find her way to Los Angeles, California in an effort to begin the process of building a career in the acting industry. Although she had never intended to pursue an acting career, the dream was sold to her by one of her professors at the University of Arizona who got a sense that she could make a successful career as an actress after she had performed for a class that was part of the academic requirements.

Soon after she arrived at Los Angeles, Kristen Wiig joined The Groundlings troupe because at the time she preferred improv and comedy to acting. Her struggling artist phase soon began to wane as she started to pick up television roles such as Doctor Pat, an unskilled marriage counselor on The Joe Schmo Show.

In 2005, heeding the advice of a colleague on the Groundlings troupe, Kristen Wiig submitted an audition recording to the Saturday Night Live producers. Apparently they were impressed with her performance and that landed her a job on the show. She continued to write and perform sketches regularly on the show until 2012. However, she has been appearing irregularly afterward.

Kristen Wiig’s first film role came in 2006 when she performed the role of Carole Malone in the movie Unaccompanied Minors. Afterward, she appeared in The Enigma with a Stigma that same year. With those two films she had begun to build momentum as the following year, she went on to appear in four feature films including Knocked Up, Meet Bill, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and The Brothers Solomon. Other roles include playing Mandy in Pretty Bird released in 2008 and roles in Ghost Town, Adventureland and Ice Age that same year among many more to follow. She has also been a voice actor in such animation films as Despicable Me 3, Sausage Party and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. As a writer, Kristen wrote the 2011 film, Bridesmaids alongside Annie Mumolo.

Does Wiig Have Children?

In 2005, Wiig got married to film and television actor Hayes Hargrove although the marriage ended in divorce in 2009. They never had any children together. When asked if she would remarry in an interview she had mentioned that she did not see that as a likely occurrence as she was not prepared to bow to societal pressures to be a married woman. However, she is as of this writing engaged to another actor named Avi Rothman, whom she began dating since 2016.

Although Kristen Wiig does not have any children as of now, she had mentioned years ago that she would love to have children at some point. Although more recently when asked about having children in an interview she had jokingly mentioned that she feels so attached to her pet animals as well as the plants she grows in her home that they are now like her children and so she does not worry about having children so much anymore.
